Last week, in collaboration with , ACTION hosted a conference for middle and high schoolers in the Greater Boston area!
We had so much fun connecting with students and facilitating workshops surrounding leadership and the importance of service. Students were able to develop their own service projects and share ideas through storyboarding!
Thank you to Multiplying Good for bringing together such an awesome group of students and all the members of ACTION who made this conference possible!
Today ACTION volunteered with Read By The River to teach kids about government and inspire civic and political engagement! The kids got to learn a little bit about the Constitution and write their own additions!
This week’s meeting is a discussion in collaboration with CIVIC and Jumbo Vote! Join us on Monday at 7PM to talk about youth involvement in politics!
*there will be no regular meeting this week*

See you next week in Tisch 316!
Our President .cedarbaum moderated a Tisch Solomont Speaker Series event featuring Representative Maxwell Frost (FL-10) this past Monday! She and the first Gen-Z member of Congress were in conversation about the power of youth civic engagement and organizing, the meaning of representation, and the future of our democracy. The audience Q&A led to discussion about critical national policy issues, https://www.nbcboston.com/news/politics/fla-lawmaker-talks-about-gun-reform-efforts-at-tufts-after-maine-shootings/3175471/ - an issue close to Rep. Frost's heart as a former National Director of Organizing for March for our Lives.
Thank you to Representative Frost and his team for coming to Tufts and providing such empowering and engaging insights! Thank you also to Tisch College of Civic Life for giving ACTION the opportunity to co-sponsor the event, write guiding questions for the Q&A, and inviting members of our organization to meet with Rep. Frost.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to write letters encouraging young voters in Virginia to vote in the upcoming election 🍩✊📝
We had such a great time at Community Day!
ACTION ran a mocyouthadvocacy principal. Our candidates, Bluey and Snoopy, each had their own policies. Students from the community got to learn about our candidates and vote for who they agree with most!
In the end, Bluey won the election, and our community learned about the process of voting, prioritizing policies and issues of importance, and making your voice heard!

This week, we'll be spotlighting our new Fall 2023 E-Board members. Next up is ACTION’s Marketing & Design Director
Jack (he/him) is a junior from Westchester, NY. He is majoring in Philosophy with minors in Economics and Studio Art.
Jack joined ACTION at the start of his freshman year. Although he originally joined because some leaders from his pre-orientation were on the e-board, he stayed involved because he loved getting to learn about the intersection of civics and education in the surrounding community. Jack has really enjoyed leading the creative direction of the club, and has been on e-board for several semesters! His favorite ACTION memory was the letter writing event to encourage citizens to vote during the previous midterm elections!
More award shenanigans 📸 ♥️
and thank you for all your support this semester!
Today, ACTION was lucky to win the Community Connection Award at the 2023 Student Organization Awards Ceremony!
This award is an amazing representation of all our meaningful work this year with communities we care about.

We look forward to another year of meaningful connection with you all.

If there's anything we can't stand, it's a perfect senior. And FIVE of 'em, yecch!
Our e-board seniors are the backbone of our club, and we are going to miss them so much! But, they're moving on to bigger and better, and we can't wait to see what they do. Luckily, we still have a few weeks left!
Danielle, Gaby, Raksha, Alison, and Olivia, we love you!
And thank you to our entire e-board and our amazing members for making this an amazing semester. We’re excited for the final few weeks with you all.
PS, if you don't get the reference, go watch some TV!
Last weekend, ACTION members collaborated with Strong Women Strong Girls to teach young girls in the Medford/Somerville community how to express themselves to people in power and make a difference!
After learning about female-identifying politicians and young women activists, we wrote letters together to these inspiring change-makers. Swipe through to see some of our favorites!
What can action do for your school or community? Swipe to find out!
We've had some amazing experiences with students of all ages and have some amazing things to come. We can't wait to see what our next adventure will be.

Yesterday, ACTION lead a Civics and Leadership workshop with middle school student-government members from the Cambridge Public School District!
We had an amazing time running a mock School Committee session, where the students put forth incredible ideas to improve their schools! Ideas included having better quality lunches that meet more dietary restrictions, better managing bus routes, and managing overcrowding at lunch - they even got to present these ideas and advocate to real life School Committee members and student representatives.
Thank you so much for having us, and to all of the ACTION members and faculty who helped in the planning and facilitation of this event!
Our First Meeting and Spring GIM is this coming Monday, January 30th at 9:00PM in the Campus Center! We'll be discussing new projects for the upcoming semester.

Last, but certainly not least, is Raksha! Our retired president is now ACTION’s co-event planning coordinator!
Raksha is the co-head of event planning (with .lewis)! She is a senior from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and studies International Relations and Psychology. Raksha joined ACTION during her first semester at Tufts because she was drawn to such a passionate group who takes concrete steps to further youth civic education in the surrounding community. Her favorite ACTION memory is writing letters to encourage unregistered voters to vote ahead of the 2020 election.
