It’s National Check The Chip Day — a day to check on your pets' microchips and make sure they're working and up to date. Microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolen… but a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate. So when you visit your favorite veterinarian ask them to “Check the Chip”. And if you have moved or have a new phone number, remember to contact your chip registry and update your info.

Do you have pets who don’t have microchips? Your veterinarian can help you chip and register your pets. Lost dogs and cats who have been microchipped are much more likely to be returned to their owners. All of the dogs and cats adopted at SoHumane have been microchipped. Youth from Grace Point Church in Medford recently spent an afternoon at SoHumane making frozen Kong treats for the dogs, creating warmie socks for vet care’s use and reading to the dogs.
