Steven with a Technician PSA here: This is a email I *just* received and by all accounts, it looks pretty legitimate! This is a common scam that runs through and takes advantage of people of all walks of life and it sucks.

ALWAYS double check the number they're asking you to call! Just put the number straight into Google and you'll see if it's part of the company's tree very quick and fast. Secondly, I would urge you to NOT respond or call through the email, but rather contact the company directly through their website and they can verify the legitimacy of this so-called "transaction number". Thirdly, you can always verify the funds were actually taken out before making ANY decision in the first place, as in this case, they have not been. They're just trying to scare you and will talk you into sending ACTUAL money once on the phone, or have you download an app that allows remote access so they can do more damage!

These scams come after all of us, and some are pretty damn good...we just need to be better!

Summer has arrived. So has liquid damage phones! Keep your phone in a watertight bag if you're around water. When phones get wet, corrosion begins to grow on the contact points inside the phone causing the phone to not work properly...OR you risk shorting something out (water & electricity don't mix).

Does this happen to you? Let's briefly talk about a security tip that can save your account... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 2-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION SET UP ON ALL OF YOUR IMPORTANT ACCOUNTS! I get these messages often, it doesn't mean someone HAS logged in, it means they've attempted to. As long as you have 2-factor authentication (aka 2FA) set up (preferably with your CURRENT phone number) there's no way someone can brute login to your account without that 2nd authentication method. I'm sure this post will get flooded with BOTS (fake accounts) claiming they can help with this but please don't ever respond to anyone online telling you they can help with something like this. AND NEVER GIVE YOUR ACCOUNT INFO TO ANYONE ON THE INTERNET OR OVER THE PHONE! If you continuously get messages from Facebook or any other account claiming someone has logged in somewhere else, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS IMMEDIATELY.

Technician PSA: If you have a device with HDMI ports (namely game consoles), they are to be unplugged with a firm STRAIGHT pull. Do not wiggle or pull the cord out at an angle. Despite popular belief, they are not meant to be regularly unplugged/replugged or used with a HDMI cord that can't plug directly in (a.k.a your device is in a tight spot where the cord has to bend to be plugged in)
