List price is $1149, but these are dusty, have some light rub marks from the trailer padding and it is time to sell them. $499 each. Call me at 715-748-0148 to see about purchase. Happy Paddling!
Its time for fishing...or just relaxing, or for playing around with friends on the water. This sit on top does it all. HUGE stability and load capacity. Great fishing amenities all over. Practically unsinkable, good looking and tremendous durability. It works well on rivers and lakes and is easy to handle off the water too..
Sale price $829.00. This is my last one so call soon for a try out. 715-748-0148
Check out this sale! If you never paddled a Kevlar ultralight solo canoe, you should maybe come over and try one, or three. This weeks special is the Wenonah, Encounter. It is a large volume, straight tracking, dry paddling, pretty fast, workhouse. It does all this while feeling light and responsive on the water and great fun to paddle just for fun or heavily loaded for weeks of water travel. It only weighs 38 pounds! These qualities also make it ideal for those really big folks. How such a fast canoe can feel so stable is a mystery understood only to Wenonah. I have one brand new one, but the Kevlar has darkened just enough for me to put it on sale. List price is $3729. On Sale for $2600. Call Dan at 715-748-0148
I have one too many Wenonah, Champlain canoes
in Aramid ultralight in inventory for this time of year. I believe this it is the finest large volume general purpose canoe made, period. It is almost as fast as the Minnesota 2, but caries more, is more stable and handles better in rough water. List is $3899, SALE $2800.
How about a Wenonah Basswood with a few small scratches on it for Just $1999.00!
Or a Wenonah Kingfisher with some slight blemishes for Just $2200!
Its been 3 years since I made a trip to the Boundary waters canoe area. Now that my new shoulder is working pretty well I plan on putting in on this lake and seeing how far I can go.
Sale, 30% off. This one was lightly scratched when my 8 place trailer blew over on Tuesday.
The Basswood solo 15 is Wenonah's answer for a super stable, but still reasonably efficient solo canoe. It is toughened with built in skid plates, super strong Versa Gunwales and an extra layer of fabric, and still light at only 35 pounds. It has huge capacity, tracks well but turns well too.
The only downside is there are no options you can order. This helps keep the price down. It is not a speed daemon, but still has respectable efficiency. It is 15' 7 " long and 31 inches wide, very seaworthy and capable of hauling lots of stuff. If you like to fish, the Versa gunwale is a total length t track so there is room for all your gadgets and then some. It is plenty stable for stand up fishing and easy to haul in that big Laker you hooked without fear of dumping. Only $2449. Call 715-748-0148.
This is when you really want a light canoe!
My canoe trailer blew over in the wind yesterday. A Wenonah Basswood Solo 15, outfitters edition and a Minnesota 2 ultralight got some scratches so you get 30% off. That's just $2700 for the MN2 and $2400 for the Basswood!! Call 715-748-0148 You will look at carrying your canoe much more favorably.
Last night Facebook would not let me add much text. So please look again at the post below for info on the Fusion Canoe by Wenonah.
Best little fishing canoe ever made and a lot lighter than any fishing kayak. The Fusion. This 30 pound canoe has a high back padded seat, a foot rest and or foot pegs. The pegs are used to operate the rudder. The rudder is a game changer for a small canoe. It allows you to correct for wind as you drift or paddle. Suddenly you don't need to constantly correct with your paddle. You can also order it with the Versa Gunwale and have a full length t-track on both sides of the canoe.
This canoe was designed to be stable, light and easy to stow any and all your gear comfortably. It is faster and much lighter than any sit on top fishing kayak and you will have a dry ride. This is hard to beat for fun, or adventure. It can easily float a 250 pound person and gear. If you try it you're going to like it!
Call 715-748-0148 anytime between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm.
The Wenonah Vagabond is a sweet little canoe. At just 30 pounds in the ultra light version it is easy to car top and haul down the trail for a distant put in. At my 225 pounds, I don't like it for big water especially with another 60 pounds of gear. For someone at 180 pounds or less tripping would be no problem and the portages would be fun.
It is plenty stable, but I like more free-board when the chop picks up. On smaller water it behaves great. It is nicely efficient, tracks well and maneuvers easily enough for most situations. Everyone who purchased one from me seems to like it. Most of my customers choose to try out the canoes they are interested in before buying so it is unlikely they won't like it later.
This is a smaller, light weight, capable canoe for open water and easy rivers. It is not good for serious whitewater or for carrying heavy loads or if you are paddling alongside good paddlers in longer faster canoes.
To try one out just call and set up a date. 715-748-0148
Happy Paddling!
I took the Bonafide RS117 out for a paddle today. it is very very stable even with the seat in the high position. I see no problem pulling a 30 pound salmon on board.
It is on the heavy side at 77 pounds, but with that you get a heavy duty kayak with twin skid plates on the rear that make getting it on and off the water easier and a size that will accommodate lots of movement.
I am 6'1 and in the low seat position had just the right amount of leg room, but in the high position there was significantly more. The seat is really comfortable.
It is kind of slow, but for that you get huge stability, capacity and ease of movement. It tracks well and turns well. I made a complete 360 with six forward and reverse sweep strokes.
The deck rigging is extensive with lots of room for gear, rod holders, fish locator, cooler and a dog if you like having your buddy along.
This is a great down river kayak and for cruising along shore casting to all those special fish holding spots. It would also be great for photography and bird watching. If you want to travel lots of distance you will want a longer, narrower kayak that can glide at speed.
Great, well thought out, purpose built kayak from a respected American company.
Happy Paddling.

This is a new one for the Silent Glide. The Liquid Logic Saluda 12 foot. I paddled it for the first time yesterday on Chelsea Lake in about 10 to 12 mile per hour wind.
As soon as I got in the stability impressed me. This may be the most stable flat water recreational kayak I have paddled. The even better news is that it paddles crazy nice. Smooth glide, straight tracking even in the wind and it turns well. It has a 300 pound capacity; I weigh 225 and had a 15 pound pack in the back. It felt perfect, I am sure it can handle another 50 pounds easily. The lawn chair style seat is very comfortable, the knee/thigh paddling is nice and right where you need it, the foot pegs are solid and easy to adjust on the fly. There is lots of room for long legs and lots of adjust-ability. I am 6'1 and I am sure a 6'6" and a 5 foot person will fit well. This kayak is a performance kayak in that it does what it is designed to do very, very well. At only 50 pounds you won't find a lighter one without going to a much more expensive composite one. Is it worth the $1099 list price? Yes, definitely, but you should really come and try it out for yourself to be sure. Just remember you will be spoiled and likely not want one of those big box store models after the try out. Call me at 715-748-0148 with questions and for a try out time. Happy Paddling!
I screwed up so the pictures are in the post below.
The Wenonah Prism is the lower one with the center pedestal, sliding seat and foot brace so you can adjust trim by sliding it forward or back. The Wilderness has a web seat that doesn't move forward or back, but is adjustable in height so you can choose higher or lower and angle so it can be used for supported kneeling.
I have paddled both quite a lot. Both have plenty of stability, but the Prism has a bit more. The Wilderness is noticeably more maneuverable but a little slower; those two traits often go hand in hand. The Prism is 14 inches longer so it has greater speed and capacity.
If I am trying to make distance. like on a wilderness trip or just working out, the Prism is more fun to paddle. It tracks straighter and glides better. On windy or rough water, I prefer the Wilderness because it has an inch and a quarter of rocker which makes it easier to turn into the wind and handle serious chop easier. Being shorter helps with this too. When I have customers compare them on the water, the Prism usually wins, I think mostly because of it's greater speed and awesome glide. The shorter more nimble Wilderness will win if the paddler is more interested in versatility such as rivers with obstacles and open water, the shorter length has appeal as well.
Luckily you can't go wrong with either, but a comparison paddle will probably make it all very clear which one you prefer. If you would like to try them out just call. 715-748-0148
This is a good memory. Watertown lake. Went there with a good friend who is now passed, Gordy Ruesch. He took the picture.
When you need a light canoe that can still take real life paddling, The Wenonah, Wee Lassie can fit the bill. It comes in two sizes, 10 foot 6 inches at 20 pounds and 12 foot 6 inches at 25 pounds.
This stable little canoe has a kayak type seat on the bottom which increases stability greatly and adds serious comfort. With just 12 inch high gunwales at the paddling position it is easy to paddle with a canoe or kayak paddle. I Paddled the 12 foot 6 inch model with a a 35 pound dog and a 15 pound pack in very windy conditions on a small lake. I weigh 225 pounds. I was impressed with the stability, seaworthiness and the glide.
I never paddled the 10 foot 6 inch model as it sat too low in the water for my confidence, but other customers took it out for a spin and said, "That's the canoe I want"!. If your total load is under 200 pounds, this may be the one for you. For many people getting the boat loaded on the car or trailer is make or break for paddling. These canoes can be loaded by nearly everyone and paddle better than most kayaks. If you want a light pack canoe to walk in and fish those remote lakes, this is the ticket. Come over and try one out for yourself. 715-748-0148
This is the Wenonah Minnesota 2. This canoe is a joy to paddle for a lot of reasons. At 18 foot 6 inch long and 33.5 inches wide it literally races through the water while maintaining plenty of stability, especially with a load of gear, kids and dogs. My observations point to it being the most used tandem canoe in The Boundary Waters. The seating positions are narrow so reaching the water is easy and right by your side. The rear foot brace is a big plus for comfort and transfer of power. The bow sliding seat lets you customize that seating position for leg length and width of paddling position, and when you go to carry it somewhere the svelte 42 pounds is a light load. If you haven't paddled one you should come by and give it a try and see what you think.

First step in canoe training. Get in have some fun and get something to eat. Then do it over and over again for a couple of weeks, working up to rocking and spinning the canoe. About 8 years ago we started the process of leaning to travel in a canoe. He is good at it now, but would much rather run along shore.
Sometimes just looking at a boat makes you want it. This is one of those, especially if you like to fish. The Bonafide RS117 is one of these. At 11 foot 7 inches long and 33.5 inches wide with a catamaran style hull the stability is very secure. Its not a fast kayak, but you are fishing or relaxing, not competing. It has t- tracks all over, a place for your gear trunk, rod holders, paddle holders, deck cover, awesome stadium seat. gear storage wells, and much more. With everything included it weighs 77 pounds, but it has dual, replaceable skid plates so if you have to drag it a short ways its no big deal. This is a lot of kayak for a list price of $1049. You can come look at it, try it out or just lust for it. Just call 715-748-0148
This is Wenonah's new Backwater 13. At 13 foot 6 inches long and 40 inches wide with a wide transom to boot, this is a very stable canoe. I bought one for myself last fall when my left shoulder was failing me big time. I put a 55 lb thrust trolling motor on it and a 100 amp hour lithium, iron, phosphate battery. My GPS said top speed was 5 mph. I ran a heavy cable to the front and put a tie down for the battery there too. The upside of the new battery is it only weighs 19 pounds, the down side is that it isn't heavy enough to hold the bow down. I added a dry bag with about 40 pounds of water in it and that worked well. I also tried a cooler and scooped water into it for weight. That worked even better because it was so stable. The wide stable design is no fun to paddle, but with the motor, light weight, and huge stability it is great fun to fish from or just sight see and relax. It can easily hold three people my size so the cooler could come in handy as a seat even though you wouldn't need it for weight. Great design for kids, dogs, hunting, fishing and just sight seeing, and it is so light you can launch it from anywhere. You do need a motor and battery for this one.
If your interested in a test run just call 715-748-0148
If Stable and roomy are your first considerations, the Kingfisher by Wenonah may be the ultimate canoe for you. It is 16 feet long and 40 inches wide. Most canoes this wide won't paddle well. but Wenonah won't make a canoe that doesn't paddle well. This one glides very easily up to about 2 miles per hour, then the bow wave starts to build and resistance increases pretty fast. 3 miles per hour is all you will probably want to sustain. It tracks straight and turns easily. The extra width really accommodates a lot of gear. Tackle boxes, buckets, batteries, decoys and coolers and don't forget the dog all fit with room to spare. It is a fishing and hunting machine or a recreational photography platform. I always try to keep one around for me and a friend to use. This big canoe is only 39 pounds and way tougher than the weight would lead you to believe. If you want to try one out just call me, Dan at 715-748-0148
Morning sun at my back, island rimmed by a marsh and snow squalls coming in. Its good to be out early.
The Wenonah Solo Plus is a canoe that works well for lots of people. When Paddled solo it is fast, stable and has great capacity for gear and or a dog. When paddled as a tandem you loose a little stability and in my opinion a little speed compared to other canoes of similar length.
Someone who wants to day paddle with a friend or spouse but go on canoe camping trips solo will find this a great option. Parents who want their kids to have a seat to paddle from, like it.
If you want a canoe that will serve two purposes this is the best of the best. It is 16.5 feet long, nearly 32 inches wide at the waterline and only 40 pounds. Having an extra seat/seats adds some weight or it would weight less. On solo trips I like to size my packs so they fit under the seats if possible so they are naturally secure. Usually I have one larger one just behind me too.
This one will have to be a special order so if you are interested call well before you need it. 715-748-0148
Sometimes gliding fast and effortlessly is so appealing. IF you like that and want to carry a little gear and even a dog the Advantage is soo cool, getting in it, is having to have one. The stability is great, the tracking is very good and the ability to turn is remarkable for such a fast canoe. It's not good for large waves and it can't carry a ton of gear, but it sure is fast, and smooth and light and fun. I often take one with me to the BWCA as a second. If the weather is calm I paddle it from base camp near the entry point. If its windy and wavy I take my good old Mini Canak. When I do take it, a 25 pound emergency pack and my dog come along. That totals about 300 pounds and it feels really good. I can make a lot of distance with this sweet canoe. I believe it is the best fast solo that isn't strictly for racing. If you want to try one out just call me. Dan, 715-748-0148
This is the Wenonah Encounter, solo canoe. I have paddled mine between 6,000 and 7,000 miles over the 24 years I have owned it.
It is very efficient, very stable, nice and narrow at the gunwales, but plenty wide at the waterline. It easily carried me at 220 lbs, an 80 pound dog and 60 pounds of gear with no issue in very windy and rough water on big Boundary Lakes. It's a little hard to turn in very twisty meanders, but I was always able to do it and in big following surf you have to quarter the waves or get corkscrewed.
In my opinion, this is the perfect design. The 25 inch wide gunwales make paddling so easy, the huge capacity makes for only about 2 to 3 inches of draft with a light load, the stability makes photography and fishing enjoyable and stress free. I was always able to keep up with other paddlers even in two man canoes, and it only weighs 38 pounds. Awesome Canoe.
Let me know if you want to try one out. 715-748-0148.
This time I am highlighting the Wenonah Champlain. If I could only own one, two person canoe this is it. It can do everything well. At 18 feet long and 36.5 inches wide it has lots of room. It isn't quite as fast as the Minnesota 2, but is faster than most canoes and has huge stability, huge capacity and can handle wind and waves very well. I can't think of even one time I was in the Boundary waters when wind and waves were not a factor for at least one day. This canoe lets you travel even on those days. It has some rocker so it can maneuver yet it tracks straight easily. For light loads it might be more canoe than you need, but it is so versatile you will always enjoy the ride. The standard Tractor style seats are comfortable, the built in foot rest makes paddling easier and the sliding bow seat allows for the right room for anyone. I only stock them in Arimid ultralight at 46 pounds, but if you want something a bit tougher like the flex core or TufWeave I will be glad to order at no extra charge.
Happy Paddling!
