Today we had an absolutely beautiful day to walk to the park, play, eat lunch, and walk back! I think you will have some tired children on your hands tonight!

Also…quick reminder that tomorrow will be the last day of school for the 23-24 school year and it will be an early release day!!

Then things really got crazy as Ms. Brittany and I decided to do a “student swap.” My kiddos got to go to her room for free choice time and her kids got to come to my classroom. What a hoot! I think this is definitely something we will do again next week as it allowed the kids to explore a new classroom with new toys! They were so excited for this!

What an absolutely beautiful day we had at the school forest today! The bugs were a little thick when we first started walking but seemed to let up as the morning went on! We saw many different phases of a tadpole today but didn't get to see an adult frog. Then we hiked back to the shelter and enjoyed a snack of juice and gold fish crackers. Ask your child their favorite part of the school forest!

Today Ms. Heather got some soccer balls from Mr. Keefe, the gym teacher, for us to use during our outside gym time! This definitely was a hit and will probably be done again before the school year is over!

Good afternoon parents!

I just wanted to remind you that we will be going to the school forest tomorrow morning. We will be leaving by 8:30 so please make sure that your child is at school by then. Also, we have been talking to other teachers who have been out there this week and they said the ground near the pond is still a little wet from all the rain so rain boots are appreciated. If your child does not have rain boots, I would recommend sending an old pair of tennis shoes that you don't mind if they get wet and then sending along a good pair with a new pair of socks that they can change into once we get back to school!

Lastly, if you want your child to have sunscreen or bug spray on for the school forest, you must put that on them prior to coming to school. Unfortunately, due to allergies and other regulations, we are not able to put those things on the students. It sounds like the gnats are pretty bad out there so I would definitely recommend bug spray.

Otherwise, it looks like it will be a beautiful day and we are excited to explore! Any questions, let me know!

We had such a Fun Friday today! This morning, we made "haystacks" for a snack. Then this afternoon, we got to participate in our first ever "Rope Hop." Things were changed up a little this year. Instead of the kiddos jumping rope, the firefighters who will be receiving the money that was raised came to join in on the fun. Then the two classes from each grade level that brought the most donated money was able to participate in an activity with the firefighters. Pre-K and Kindergarten did the Hokey Pokey/Chicken Dance, 1st and 2nd grade had a tug of war competition, 3rd grade had a hula hoop competition, and 4th grade had a dodge ball competition. This was a super fun event and we appreciate all of you for your donations!

This afternoon, Ms. Connie from Prevail Bank came to talk to us about how to save money. She read a story and talked about the different types of coins and how much they were worth. Then we were given play coins and were asked to sort them by type as well as complete a worksheet where we had to circle all of the pennies! We had such good listening ears that we even earned a dot on our compliment 10-Frame!

Today we did one of my favorite science experiments! We watched a quick Blippi Sink or Float video and then we did our own sink or float experiment! We used the green(float)/red(sink) cards to make a hypothesis, tested the hypothesis, and recorded our results! Ask your child which item surprised them the most!

Even though I wasn’t there today, Ms. Heather (thank goodness for her) snapped a shot of these super kiddos enjoying a delicious glazer from Kwik Trip for filling the big shield! Woohoo!!! 🥳

Since we are learning about Oceans, we had a grandparent who offered to bring us some starfish and other sea shells for each student to take home. Students were given the choice of two items. The starfish had a very fishy smell so everyone's ocean items were put into a ziploc bag. Please check your child's backpack tonight and see which ones your child picked!

The next two weeks, our theme is Oceans. Yesterday, we made this cute shark to hang in our classroom. I really like this project as the students get to have many choices in how they want their shark to look. They get to decide their background color, the wave color, and whether they want their shark to be happy or mad.
