Ms. Angela's Pre-K
Welcome to our classroom page. We are excited to share our Pre-K adventures with you.
Last week our theme was "5 Senses", between the field trip, our practice fire drill and school wide celebration of popsicles for filling the big shield with positive choices, I think we covered them all.
More from the pumpkin patch. ๐
Last week we had a beautiful day for a field trip to the pumpkin patch. So many fun things to see and do.
Last week we made applesauce using the apples we picked at the orchard. They really cooked down so we only ended up with a small taster each but it was a hit. They will be surprised with more apple treats this coming week using those apples. :-)
A look back at last week's "Shapes" theme. Shape hokey pokey, noodle shapes, Brain Break dances, and a visit with Mrs. Faude and Mrs. Woller to talk about school expectations.
We had a great day for our first field trip. The apple orchard visit was full of fun activities for the kids. We tried apple cider, played outdoor games, picked apples to make applesauce later this week, did hurdles over hay bales, did a taste test of 3 types of apples, and played with a parachute.
Today we had our first 'real' project time. We sang our "Pick Up a Crayon" song to help us learn the tripod grip on crayons and pencils as we completed a coloring page. We used our 'listening ears' to complete a book.
We are off to a great start! Our first day was full of playtime. We practiced lining up, walking in the halls on a school tour, and enjoying the playground on a sunny day.

This was a big week. We also had Shake and Wiggle time at the library!
We had a lot of fun bowling! Thank you to the parents that were able to join and help keep things rolling. :-)
Here is how our classes will be lined up in the gym for the concert tomorrow. We will try to center ourselves in the risers, as we likely will not take up all of the space. Looking forward to seeing you then!!
Another great event happening this week!

Our artists!
Today we took a nature walk on the Kuse Trail near our school and used our senses of hearing, seeing, smelling, and touching. We heard rocks beneath our feet, wind rustling leaves, kids and cars in the distance, and birds chirping. We saw tree sap, acorns, pinecones, deer trails, bird houses, flowers, mushrooms, and colorful leaves. We smelled fresh air. We touched soft moss and bark.
A little humor and learning experience in our PreK day:
Our classroom has a window that faces the parking lot and outdoor classroom. We have the chance to see many things throughout our day including chipmunks, birds, kids riding bike for gym class, and leaves changing colors. Recently there was excitement as a group of students walked over to our garden area. Students were saying, "The witches are coming!" Ms. B and I had to look out to see what the commotion was...bee keepers! We had to smile and took the time to talk about what bee keepers do and why bees are important.
Today we celebrated filling our big school shield by doing great things that show Respect, Responsibility, Safety, and Fun. We had an Amazing Race where we had to work as a classroom team to think about how we could get out of the school together if the doors were blocked (We went out a window!), practiced staying together in a line and with our teachers, finding checkpoints along the way, and crossing the parking lot quickly and safely. To end the race we all had a popsicle treat!
Pumpkin Patch part 2
We took our first field trip of the year and it was an amazing afternoon! Ms. Marsha's Pumpkin Patch had so many fun things to see and do. We found lots of Halloween and fall things on the scavenger hunt through the woods, rode in a train car, walked through a scarecrow maze, had a hay ride, fed animals some carrots and apples, played on their great playground area, and picked apples and our very own classroom pumpkin.
Applesauce pictures part 2...double classes double the pictures. :-)
Last week we made applesauce from scratch with Ms. Heidi's PreK friends. We talked about how apples can be different sizes and colors and even have different tastes. The hallway smelled delicious and almost everyone enjoyed their special snack.
During Shapes and Colors week, we had our first visits with Ms. Sheryl (our speech teacher), made colorful noodle shapes, practiced coloring and counting using 'little lines' and 'little circles' to carefully fill in shapes, had our first story time with our Medford Library friends, met with Ms. Krissy (our Special Education teacher) to review how to walk in our hallways and be respectful to others, and met with Mr. Miller (our principal) and Mrs. Faude our (behavioral interventionist) to review our school expectations, and of course LOTS of play time to get to know our classmates!
I have been waiting for a few more permissions to be filled out before posting any class photos. The time has come to start sharing! Here is a recap of our first week. We are off to a great start and the students are getting settled into our routines.
