NOT DIGGING YOUR BACK PAIN? 🤨 Here's how to protect your spine in the garden:

🌻 LIFT WITH SUPPORT🌻
Lift objects close to your body. Bend from your hips and knees rather than your spine. Use a wheelbarrow to carry heavy items from place to place!

🌼 USE LONG-HANDLED TOOLS 🌼
These will help minimize amount of bending while planting and weeding.

🌸 WARM UP BEFORE STARTING🌸
Gardening can sometimes be a real workout! Prepare those muscles by going for a brisk 5 minute walk or by doing a gentle stretch lying on your back, bring your knees to your chest one at a time, holding for 30s.

🌹USE OF A KNEELER OR A SMALL CHAIR FOR SUPPORT🌹
Getting down on the ground and standing up can be very painful. Kneelers can help you by allowing you to use your arm strength to get up and down.

🪴BE AWARE OF YOUR POSTURE 🪴
It is important to vary your posture every half hour. Being stuck in the same position for long periods can lead to injury. So vary between standing and kneeling by alternating tasks.

To avoid twisting, always make sure that you are facing square square onto the area of the garden you are specifically working on. Moving in closely to the area you are working on rather than reaching out is another way to avoid injury or pain.

🌺 LISTEN TO YOUR BODY🌺
Don't take on too much at once. Limit gardening to 20-30 minutes at a time. Take a break to stretch out every 5 minutes.

🪻Sometimes it doesn’t matter how much you stretch and warm up. If there are underlying issues in the spine and nervous system, you will eventually feel the effects of it. How Does Chiropractic Help People Who Suffer From Headaches
On the first visit with a chiropractor, a review of health history will be completed. These may include x-rays (if they are needed), in order to determine the type of nerve blockage that may be occurring. They will listen to the patient, make an assessment, and determine what type/s of treatment is best.

With headaches, there is usually a misalignment (subluxation) in the cervical spine. This may be accompanied by muscles that are tight in the neck, shoulders and surrounding area. Pressure on the nerves can cause sharp stabbing pain or a continual throbbing pain in the region.

The chiropractor will assess the area and then begin treatment, known as a chiropractic adjustment. The adjustment is what relieves the pressure and pain. The relief is usually instantaneous, with an increase in positive symptoms for the following few hours.

Chiropractors don’t just focus on relieving symptoms but getting to the root cause and correcting the problem. That is why additional treatments/adjustments are often required, as one adjustment is usually not enough. A chiropractor will take time to educate patients on treatment, therapy exercises, fitness, nutrition, sleep, and regular adjustments.

Lack of sleep + stress + poor nutrition + prescription medications contribute to headache disorders + draw on our energy reserves which need to be replenished for optimal function. Our body systems require energy to function properly. Some require more energy than others, but some of the most demanding functions include- liver detoxification + immune function + cardiovascular health + neurologic function.

If you enjoy the freshness of summery recipes, give this side dish a try!

Greek salad combines fresh produce with feta cheese + extra virgin olive oil to support healthy fat intake providing 20g of total fat- 4.5g saturated fat + 1.9g polyunsaturated fat + 13g monounsaturated fat.

4 servings at ~124g or about 1/2 c. each- you can use cubed or crumbled feta cheese. Don't like feta cheese? Use fresh mozzarella.

This recipe has a lower carbohydrate content, making it easy to include a starchy vegetable, fruit or grain to your meal allowing for a more balanced intake + diabetes friendly.

Headache disorders affecting many people worldwide for many reasons. They are classified as primary (tension-type, migraine, cluster headache etc.) or secondary (infection, vascular disease, trauma, etc.).

Headaches disorders can have a significant impact on quality of life, relationships, finances, work performance and may contribute to mental health conditions such as anxiety + depression.

Nutrition-related contributions to headache disorders include-

Dehydration
Low blood sugar (the longer you wait between meals = the more severe the headache)
