This is Acid Test, where eclectic comes out to play. Content rules, carrying the message, it is the bulk of this program. To be otherwise, risks failure to communicate. Having remained anonymous and in the background, The Host has let the music speak. For once, we are going to talk, say what needs to be said. Realistically, only a minority of the audience are actually listening with intention at any given moment, fewer that ideal, though you are an ideal few, the most valuable of patrons, "The Listener". This is why the Host swims upstream, producing a weekly excursion into tunes unknown, destined to amuse a select few and raise contempt in the un-listening, Art makes no excuses, no apologies. This is Acid Test, ears back, tail up...

This is Acid Test, airing different renditions. The listener is encouraged to match the imposters with the original perps and fact check the playlist at WFiT.org
Time is short, nothing lasts forever, not even Acid Test. With an ear to the ground the Listener can sense the topic to be addressed, the Finale is near. Nearing an emotional peroration and a resting place. There will always be a place for the past, preserved in the Mixcloud, the stream continues underground, out of the air, oblivious to time in a classical sense. But first, it’s the penultimate Deep Dive in the Archive. Headphones recommended...

This is Acid Test, taking the long way around, currently letting things take their course in a kind of "we'll get there" mode of musical transport. It's an Acid Test Long Player, diving into the deep end of the archive with the aim of becoming quite lost on the way home. Get into the rhythm, engage the lyrical story, lose yourself in the audio landscape. It may not last forever, but it feels like it could go on all night. This is Acid Test, take your time…

Acid Test airs live at 10PM Thursdays over WFiT FM and WFiT.org

This is Acid Test presenting fresh content to the Listener's delight, remixing recent remasters in the Beachside Retro Listening Booth. The Host has the enviable task of sorting through the entirety of new releases on a regular basis. Most of these cuts will be aired for the first time on WFiT and possibly anywhere. The music selected is, naturally, quite different because this is Acid Test, we are not looking for background, we seek stimulus. Let's face it, Test Heads are a special group with idiosyncratic tastes; 2nd shifters, nurses and chefs, prowlers and investigators, bikers and cyclists, delivering in the night. You may think you're alone, no way. You are among the most dedicated and sophisticated Listeners monitoring the airwaves. Thank you.

Acid Test materializes weekly at 10PM Thursdays as an infectious v***r transmitted through the airwaves over WFiT 89.5 FM and digitized on the internet at WFiT.org

Additional exposures may be experienced anytime at Mixcloud

The Acid Test deep-dive-in-the-Archive for Summer Solstice is up! Artfully mixed different music, it sounds like summer, anytime. Stream at will from Mixcloud.com/The_Host

The Listener might ask, "Who's piloting this thing?" On closer inspection you notice the additional musical selection heard each hour, a result of the Host remaining in the background. Stay calm, the Announcer will pop in periodically to remind you of where you are.

The Listener is out there, but so quiet, sometimes we forget. Would you mind reminding us by rattling our chain once in a while? As much as WFiT might need money, we need to know that you appreciate how Acid Test and all the other fine programs on WFiT sound. You know how to get in touch, let us know we got it right. [email protected] or leave a trace at WFIT on Facebook.

This is Acid Test, leaving no stone unturned in the search for different, new music. Band Camp, the Majors, hanging out with creators, monitoring the influencers, we go where we must, rejecting norms and standards, taking form, free of limitation, for you, the Listener. Where one is more likely to be immersed in what's happening rather than concerned about what has or will happened. It's how the Listener was able to take the opportunity to hear all this different new music. It may never be heard again, fortunately there is Acid Test.

Acid Test #248 "Another New" 04/28/2024

This is Acid Test playing the most recent releases. Sprinkled into the mix is a bonus for the Listener, new, different local music originating from the Space Coast; Kevan Brevard Band have a gig, Y'all D've Who re and Yellow (Mix 2) from JS featuring Kristen Warren! So much new music there is no room for the Host. Maybe next time.

This is Acid Test, offering stories of weird landscapes and dreamy rapture. I know, the Listener was promised new music. Well, the Host was busy flying a kite and forgot this weekend's cause to celebrate. And so we begin on Mars, pulling focus on the herb as Richard Burton confronts The Red W**d. The retro vibe extends in all directions from the point of departure: a suggestion from Chemical Sue, a metaphor for escapism, another d***y fairy tale. It can be hard to tell when and where you are. Typical to Acid Test the folky fantasy ends up a v***rous paranoia, still ringing in the Listener's ears. Any more obvious and we'd get fined for sure.
We didn't write these songs or make the laws. Want change? Vote.

This is Acid Test, displaying rarities from the inbox, surveying recent acquisitions. Many of these specimens are older, often retrieved from the rare, weathered vinyl. Others, the fruits of various ongoing searches, some quite recent. The Host is refueling the Beachside Retro Listening Booth for a long ride, diving so deep runs the risk of no return. Maybe it's not so bad, lost in eras past. Disorientation and light-headedness being potential benefits, this is Acid Test, what???

This is Acid Test, staying up with a friend, the Listener. The Host is showing some friends around the Beachside Retro Listening Booth. Join us, That’s What Friends Are For, that familiar thing, like Whenever I Call You Friend or My Redneck Friend, it's cool, we all know You’re My Best Friend and I'll Be There for You. Rest assured, You've Got A Friend so Lean on Me and Thank You, For Being a Friend.

Acid Test delivers different songs, for and about friends. Who wouldn't want to be friends? Not certain how to start? Inhibitions due to past experiences? The music will show us how. It leads you into and out of friendships. In the end, the music is your best friend. Tune in…

This is Acid Test, immersed in the present with the best of the new releases. It starts easy, not at all distracting, so you can get engaged with whatever it was you had in mind to do. The pace increases until a rhythm is established. The Listener feels a second wind, as if they could go on like this forever. The spell is broken by a foreign influence, a reaction from the hearth and a good laugh. Time to catch your breath. Reminisce a bit before facing the uphill climb home. Hammer. Harder, for the peak. Up and over, ears ringing, knuckles white and sore. You've made it, this is Acid Test.

Acid Test airs at 10PM each Thursday emanating from WFiT 89.5 FM and WFiT.org

This is Acid Test, I am your Host and File Jockey, all the way to Friday. Choice, organic audio-stream from the Florida Institute of Technology. The plan is to stay calm during the Olympics of all time changes: Leap Day. This is Acid Test, sensing magic in the air, playing music for exceptional ears. The Host pilots the Beachside Retro Listening Booth through the traditional one/four/five and a bit of foolishness before an awkward approach to what seemed like familiar territory. The Listener may be exposed to rapid acceleration and altitude gain. When you dial in this frequency, be forewarned, as the pressures increas and tunnel vision sets in, secure yourself, this may take a while.

This is an Acid Test Vinyl Long Player. Often speechless, the Host has something to say in the presence of this remarkable music preserved on PVC. Enjoy the purest vinyl exclusively. The playlist follows the usual arc though a different scale of time is in effect, allowing the music to stretch. The extended selections are presented here from difficult to obtain pressings. Consider any surface noise a patina.

Supporting this station enables nerds such as the Host to spend inordinate amounts of time and energy in used record stores throughout the region, presenting the gathered treasures in their entirety. The Listener gets all the benefits.

Twenty, twenty-four, a drudge of a year already. Just another in this 4oo year apocalypse. It's good that there is always new music. It did stack up over the holidays. For the Listener's consideration, a bouquet of ear catching melodies, all new to you. Gently mixed with respect for the artiste. Because the music is what's important. When the Host got something to say, something worth talking about, he will do so.

This is Acid Test, Yes, audiophiles, it’s another Vinyl Protocol Edition. I am the Host, steeped in poly vinyl chloride and contemplation, stylus tracking different music in analog sound stored in modulated spiral grooves on discs, as first created and commercially sold by Emile Berliner in the 1880's. Acoustic, electrical, multi-track, digital and beyond, vinyl recordings pressed and spun, collected and coveted, fidelity continually improving, delivering paradise in PVC, sonic art embedded in a whorl. At times pristine 220 gram disks of different music come fresh to the Test. Others are hard sourced, often neglected, likely abused, inartfully dyna-flexed and seldom if ever reissued. The likelihood that gems such as these will spontaneously bloom from a rural landscape of endless thrift shop isles seems highly improbably. No, one must have a goal, a treasure sought. And so, through difficulty and persistence the Host acquires vintage specimens in the original shrink wrap because you, the Listener, are worth it.

This is Acid Test, I am the gHost. The wicked hour approaches leaving the Listener uneasy, disoriented. One understands the probability for this to stray into challenging audio terrain as Acid Test pays homage to Carla Bley, just days before ghoulish and dissonant spirits overrun the calendar. Being a master composer, arranger and weirdly twisted musical soul, her passing so close to Halloween is only fitting. Having played with the best in Jazz and Rock, presented here is a variety of her work for consideration. Included are big band collaborations with Charlie Hayden (The Ballad Of The Fallen) and Steve Swallow (The Piano Lesson). Later, she disrupts things with Pink Floyd's Nick Mason (Boo to You, Too!). Then Jack Bruce, Julie Driscoll and Gato Barbieri play along on Enormous Tots and Funnybird Song. Finally closing this Hallowed program, Ms. Bley is assisted by Michael Mantler and a reprise from Soft Machine's Robert Wyatt as young Millicent Frastly is sacrificed to The Insect God.* So Gorey. How did you not know about her?

Tonight, on Acid Test, the Host is speechless. It's a topsy-turvy world and keeping up takes all you've got. Anything can happen and often does. It can be difficult to know how to respond. I want to tell you but the words won't come. Tonight at 10PM on Acid Test our monologue is mute, the Host's chair empty. Maybe next week we'll have something to say. Until then, relax and listen to music, lots of different and sparkling new music.
Tune into Acid Test on the Space Coast's FM Blowtorch WFIT 89.5 FM or stream the waves and check out tonight's playlist, at WFIT.org 'cause we aren't talking.

Everyone wants to know, what's new? Music, that's what's new. Kristin Warren opening Space Swap is new. So is Char Good on the cover of Brevard Live Magazine. Yeah, we're current, we have style. The Host gets out, sees things and its good, even better, its new. The Space Coast is happening. There are gallery openings, events for worthy causes and music everywhere. And we see you, out there, you are legion and in the loop with Acid Test.
We do this for you, the Listener. Setting aside personal taste for the objectivity to recognize what works. Acid Test is dispensed in segments. Picture a pie in which each of the eight slices is a different flavor, for you, a different genre, new music of every type. Try it, you'll like it.

Signaling balance in the world, equality between light and dark, day and night; the autumnal equinox is upon us and there is an abundance of the unusual entering our aural field. Listen for yourself, don't take anyone's word. It's so relative, things the Host considered recent and contemporary are presented as reimagined covers. Young artists become sage, evoking another time in the current, expressing the reverence in lingua franca. Then there are those who never faded, still on the unfolding path. But the comfort zone if full, currently inflating the bell curve. Fortunately, this is Acid Test, for the freaks, the outcasts, pardon the distractions.
