🍎🍍🥑FOOD FOR THOUGHT🧐…You wouldn’t bring your kid to me for pitching, football or soccer lessons. That would be scary. But what is scarier is some coaches trying to tell the athlete’s parents how to properly recover. Here is part of a conversation I had this morning, after seeing this teenager earlier this week. I’m glad that the mom trusted me enough to reach out, but how many parents are at the mercy of the coach, now knowing any better? This is NO DISRESPECT to coaches- the majority of the teenagers I get are referred to me directly from their coach, and we have a mutual respect for our respective roles. So for the sake of your child’s health and future sport career, ALWAYS get a second opinion from a professional who specializes in the area of concern when advice doesn’t seem right to you. 👏Good job to this mom for going with her gut and reaching out when she said “it doesn’t seem right to me.” 👏

🥎This week starts Melbourne High’s 8 week mobility training for the varsity softball team!🥎
💥Day 1 will consist of A LOT of information about the purpose of an effective warm-up, focusing being INTENTIONAL with all movements, HOW to stretch, and how to training for MOVEMENT will result in more power, speed, and less risk of injuries.
👉Next, I took a look at the current warm-up, from videos I received from the coach. I replaced some movements with more effective performance-prep ones, and added some plyometrics for ankle stability and strength, which will add speed to the short bursts they encounter while playing.
👉The coach explained concerns, observations and goals, & provided a video, and their warm- up routine. From this, I designed an effective softball specific warm-up for the team.

💥This is included with the 8 week team program, but can also be done without it. An optimal Warm-up routine is something ALL teams need, but many are without, and don’t even realize it.
