🍀St. Patrick's Day craft paired with AAC device! This kiddo is practicing following 1 step directions and requesting a green dot marker with use of his AAC device

The St. Patrick’s Day activities have begun!🍀

Ms. Kristen worked on Articulation St. Patrick's themed glasses with some of her kiddos this week in their speech sessions. This kiddo worked on her "th" in all positions of words at the word level. A perfect craft for the session and a take home for more practice! 🤩

❄️Snowflake Craft Fun in OT!🙌

Last week in OT, kiddos had fun with a snowflake craft!

Kiddos worked on bimanual coordination, hand strength, and grasping skills by coordinating both hands to tear and crumple the paper. Visual motor skills were targeted through placing the paper onto their snowflake. Using liquid glue made for a fun tactile experience, as well!

In speech last week, we worked on Articulation with our target sounds by creating a dot marker Christmas tree 🎄
Productions of targeted words were used at word, phrase, and sentence level. We also worked on our deep breaths and slow and easy speech while we formulated these sentences to ensure fluency 🤗

The holiday season is upon us, and we understand the unique challenges it may bring for our kiddos. Changes in routines and the excitement of the day can be overwhelming. Here are some tips to help assist with a smooth and enjoyable Thanksgiving for your little ones:

Communication is Key:
Use social stories to help your child understand the day's plan. Knowing what to expect can bring comfort.

Create a Calm Space:
A quiet room with dimmed lights is a great retreat for relaxation during the festivities.

Comfort First:
Encourage comfy clothing, bring a favorite stuffed animal, and include preferred foods for a cozy day.

Mindful Seating:
Consider sensory needs when arranging seating for a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Quick Sensory Breaks:
Allow short breaks for sensory input, ensuring your child can regulate and fully enjoy the celebration.

Wondering if your toddler could benefit from occupational therapy, speech therapy, or physical therapy? Use our checklists to guide your decision, consult with your child’s pediatrician, or contact our office with any questions!

We love to play with our food in OT! Kiddos are working on hand strengthening and grasping skills by pushing pretzel sticks into marshmallows to form shapes, tracing around the marshmallows and pretzels to draw shapes for visual motor skills, and participating in the activity with peers for social skills!
