When you do a deep clean on an antique piece of furniture, you get down into grooves and underneath places that people haven’t cleaned in 50 years or so. One of the things I like to do is clean the handles and k***s thoroughly… How many hands have opened these drawers? They had faded out pretty terribly, but they look really beautiful now. Finishing touches, attention to detail.

Mahogany dresser from Kirshman’s Furniture Store on Decatur St., New Orleans, La.
This 1941 Bowfront Dresser has been completely restored to it’s former glory with a matte ebony stained top, and antique hickory satin poly to seal. Lovely forest fern paper lines the six deep drawers.
The article I found
about the Kirshman Furniture Company says that
the “Streetcar named Desire“ passed in front of the store on Dauphine Street, and that you would have free taxi fare to the store if you came to shop 🙂
