Former Police officer Desmond Mills pleaded guilty Thursday to federal charges and has agreed to plead guilty to state charges in the death of . Nichols' family says this is "the first domino" to fall in their fight for justice. Prosecutors are asking for 15 years behind bars.

Memphis City Council approves $18 million contract to outsource MLGW call center jobs to New York company The utility has 85 full-time employees and 16 part-timers with 3 open positions currently in the call center.
This was definitely a heartbreaking story to tell. 4-year-old Sequoia Samuels' family and loved ones celebrated her life Saturday. Family members say "Though she lived a short life she overcame many obstacles."
Background: The 4-year-old was first reported missing in mid-June, and law enforcement agencies from all over assisted with the search. That search lasted just under a day and Samuels' body was found in a trash can near the home, wrapped in garbage bags. Sequoia's mother and her mother's boyfriend are charged in connection to Samuels' death.
Five former police officers charged in the death of appeared in court Friday. For some of Nichols' family, it was the first time they sat in the same room with the ex-officers.
A deadline for discovery from all parties – which includes information about witnesses or evidence to be used in the case has been set for the next court date, Aug.18.
Tuesday after moved to expel 3 of their Democratic colleagues voters told me they felt disenfranchised. Now that and are officially expelled I'll have more from community members in later today.
“[The} Box town community been down here every since there’s been a Memphis," Willie Stafford a district 86 resident said. "Every time we get somebody to represent us and do what’s right they want to get rid of him or expel him, find fault in what he’s doing."
's emergency crews were still performing search and rescue operations Saturday morning and they will continue to assess the already significant damages to homes and to infrastructure. Residents I spoke to are working to rebuild.
