DJing only scratches the surface of Rich Medina’s story. His spoken word artistry has been featured on records by the likes of King Britt, Phil Asher, De Lata, Antibalas, IG-Culture, and Nathan Haines. As a record producer, he has collaborated with the likes of Jill Scott, J Dilla, Platinum Pied Pipers, Martin Luther, DJ Mitsu The Beats, Okada Taxi, Ty, Bobbito Garcia, 4AD, Blue Note Records, and Concord Music Group. He also released his first full-length LP, “Connecting the Dots” in 2005, on the Dutch indie powerhouse label Kindred Spirits.
While attending his twentieth college reunion at Cornell University in 2012, Medina was approached by the school’s director of The Cornell Hip Hop Collection to become the first ever Cornell alumnus to join their esteemed advisory board. The collection consists of the largest acquisition of rare and at-risk materials and artifacts covering the beginnings of hip hop culture—the most extensive held by any organization in the US. He has lectured on numerous topics and moderated multiple panel discussions for Cornell’s Music and Africana departments. He has also been invited to speak at San Francisco State University, and was a featured speaker at TEDxPhilly in 2011.
Rich is a card-carrying member of the Rock Steady Crew and the Universal Zulu Nation. And he has consistently lent his name to charitable organizations close to his heart, most recently The Africa Center, Room to Grow and GrassRoots.
While Medina could rest on all of his past accomplishments, he has retained the energy of a prizefighter, constantly seeking something greater as both an artist and a businessman, steadily building a respected brand with his own two hands. Rich is one of those rare people who has built himself a platform on his own terms, in his own way, achieving success with every step he takes and enriching countless souls with incredible music and unique wisdom. Medina is currently Music Director at in Miami.

World Famous DJ Dez aka Dez Andrés was destined for a life in music. The son of Humberto ‘Nengue’ Hernandez, a world renown percussionist, he got his first drum set at the age of three. While hanging out in Amp Fiddler’s home studio, he met J Dilla, who recruited him to DJ for his hiphop group Slum Village. Parallel to revolutionizing the U.S. rap landscape with the new-found electrified smoothness of S-Villa, Dez Andrés went on to explore his hometown’s house legacy from the late 90’s onwards and released a string of 12-inches on KDJ. He later released three acclaimed full-length albums for Mahogani Music, which put him on the map as one of the most versatile figures in dance music. In 2012, Dez Andrés inaugurated his own La Vida label with the future classic “New For You,” which became one of the decade’s most delectable dance floor cuts, selling out multiple pressings. Seven years since the crowd-pleasing “New For You,” his latest release, Andrés IV catches him at a professional peak, coming off of a run of singles that was among the decade’s most pleasurable, making it clear that he’s a vital part of the musical landscape, and Detroit’s musical lineage.

Big announcement! will be in the booth this Friday night!!!!
Underground artist, Spinna has spent a long career as something of an anomaly in music. A humbling example of what it takes to truly succeed within the framework of multiple fields. With a steadfast work ethic, an obsessively extensive vinyl library and the willingness to pursue the full extents of his roots (Funk, Soul R&B and Jazz), foundation (Hip-Hop) and future (Electronic/Dance music) without any restraints. A cornerstone of Hip-Hop’s late 90’s indie-uprise, DJ Spinna made much of his first impression on listeners as the musical background of his group The Jigmastas (having released an impressive slew of 12” singles on his then self-run label Beyond Real during this time) as well as providing the canvats for an array of that era’s lyrical giants including Eminem, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch and De La Soul.
Recently Spinna was the house DJ for the 40th Anniversary of Thriller; and is just off a stint in Paris with Louis Vega.
