Same chic + same cut

Pictured above is the same geometric shape, pixie cut or triangle with graduation posteriorly and layers from the parietal ridge to crown. The difference is one was curated with chemicals (relaxer) and heat formed curls with a curling iron. The second is Genetically Curated Curls (parents) cured with heat from a hood dryer.

Honestly, I don’t miss the root touchups or the chemical burns from relaxers. Actually, wearing my curls provides and opportunity for versatility that having relaxed hair didn’t provide.

Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the curliest of them all?

Gazing in the mirror contemplating my day and preparing to receive my clients, I decided to capture a moment. Yep, I love red… It’s vibrant, bold and accentuates my heavily melinated skin exquisitely.

Red evokes confidence, power, courage, passion, determination and excitement, to note a few.

…… I have a moderately-sized cranium with an oddly protruding occipital bone and just above it is flat. Chile, I guess my momma didn’t rub my head enough as a baby! 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

Based on the information previously noted, the client (me 🙋🏾‍♀️) needs a curly contour that factors in these characteristics all while considering elasticity ( shrinkage) various curl formations ➰➿

Bone structure of the face and head are still keep components to consider when cutting curly hair. The artistic flair is introduced when you look at someone’s hair cut and the genetic predisposition of their face and head are beautifully inconspicuous. We as curl specialists are artists, perhaps even architects….. Put some respeck on our profession!

Yes, a taper can withstand relaxation and restoration (sleep) and still look alluring.

Day 6 -3rd pic ( curls are shrunken snugly to the head like the black dress I’m waiting to wear with my boo (beau) when outside is wide open and mask less) However, the head shape concerns mentioned still aren’t noticeable. This is where curl pattern and elasticity are key while being cognizant that today’s hair cut isn’t tomorrow’s curly contour.

Today I had the pleasure of getting my hair cut by and I would show the before but I’m embarrassed 😂. She worked a MIRACLE on my hair. She is beyond talented and knowledge. So anyone with curls in the Memphis area she said she’s waiting on you. Thank you so much, I love it! ❤️👩🏽‍🦱

Valencia’s objective was to partner with a curl specialist who would provide information and insight that aligned with her goals for a healthy curl journey. She followed appointment preparation to detoxify her curls for a regimen that resulted in her curls being dehydrated.
