From foster care to the in Paris, Simone Biles is an inspiration to us all. Her story powerfully illustrates that being in foster care does not define your journey. Through hard work, passion, and unwavering dedication, she has shattered barriers and redefined what is possible. We're all rooting for you, Simone! 🥇
CASA appreciates the generous support of Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity. The Memphis Alumnae Chapter supports CASA throughout the year, especially with Christmas gifts for abused and neglected youth before the court. Thank you!

Executive Director Michelle Childs learned about innovative initiatives Memphis-Shelby County Schools - MSCS offers such as Project Stand, The Pursuit Center, and Project RESTORE. Each of these programs has had dramatic success with reducing recidivism rates through Juvenile Court for youth, helping them have mentors, graduating high school and pursuing college. Participants also got to hear first hand from several youth. One youth said the equine therapy he experienced helped him learn to be calm in order to not upset the horse. He also learned to shake a man’s hand and understand body language and learn about his generational trauma in therapy. It’s encouraging to hear about evidenced based programs who help the youth of Juvenile Court of Memphis & Shelby County. Director Childs was able to meet with State Representative G.A. Hardaway Sr. He provided updates from General Assembly to participants and how to be more involved in the process.
We’re so excited about our new class of Court Appointed Special Advocates! They completed all requirements and were sworn in today. You may have heard that Juvenile Court building is closed indefinitely for now. But that didn’t stop CASA from being flexible. We had an outdoor swearing in. We truly appreciate our new advocates’ compassion, commitment, and flexibility. Several have already accepted new cases to speak up for abused and neglected children before Juvenile Court. Will you be next?
The Juvenile Court of Memphis and Shelby County building will remain closed until further notice. Virtual dockets will continue as scheduled (except for child support). For Wednesday, May 1, 2024 there will be no Child Support hearings. For in-person hearings (Rule 208, Detention, and Delinquency) please contact your attorney for detailed location information.
We have been notified by the County that our building needs to be closed beginning tomorrow Thursday, April 25th and Friday, April 26th for Emergency Maintenance. We will reopen on Monday, April 29th with our normal hours of operation. Please do not come to the building.
We will attempt to accommodate hearings that were scheduled to occur via Zoom.
Not all superheroes wear capes. Sometimes superheroes are:
🦸‍♂️A teacher who spends extra time with a child in need
🦸‍♂️A neighbor who keeps an eye on an unattended child
🦸‍♂️A cousin who plays catch with their young relative
🦸‍♂️A church leader who offers additional support to families
Superheroes walk among us everyday, but today is a special day to thank those individuals in your child's life. Tennessee CASA CASA / GAL Association for Children
