September is National DMV Appreciation Month!
National DMV Appreciation Month recognizes DMV and Driver License Partners (DLPs) as vital partners in saving and healing lives. DMV staff ask the donor registration question to customers every day. DMV and Driver License Partner staff are the people on the front lines of service who have helped 170 million people across the country to register their decision to be a deceased organ, eye and tissue donor.
More than 90% of individuals surveyed across the country stated that they registered their donation decision through their local DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles).

This past Sunday was an empowering experience to end our 3-day Radiothon for this year. The choir's fantastic music selections, pastors Ricky and Sheila Floyd's inspiration and sermon, and our own Dr. Telisa Franklin represented us and shared her message about the importance of organ and tissue donation and how it has affected her family.

Earlier this month, we got the opportunity to do another two ‘Gift of Life Poster Reveal Celebration’ in Memphis, TN. Both were here in the city at local DMV stations. For the first poster reveal celebration, we honored two sets of recipients. Kidney Recipients ARTavius and his mother Tremetrius, and also Heart Recipient Jada and her mother Jasmine who is a Kidney Recipient. At the second poster reveal we honored Donor hero Tyler Span and Heart Recipient Jada and her mother Jasmine who is a Kidney Recipient. We want to thank Channel 24 News for joining us and covering the first event.

A few weeks ago we got the opportunity to treat a group of our ambassadors who we call our ‘rounders’. This group travels around our service area, delivering promotional materials to the DMV’s, Driving Schools, County Clerk offices, and other community partner that we may need to get information to. As any of our ambassadors, this group is just as important as well, helping us get the word out and spreading awareness of organ and tissue donation in the Tristate area. Big thanks to Ben & Jerry’s for having us! The ice cream was AMAZING! Everyone enjoyed their different flavors and it was perfect for such a beautiful and hot day here in Memphis, TN.

ITS ABOUT THAT TIME!!
For some, school has already started earlier this week, and for some today, Shelby County schools start Monday, and it’s a complete pleasure to help service our community and be a great partner. Helping those families in need prepare their children with school supplies for this next school year is an excellent opportunity to help and give back. Thank you to all our staff members who helped put these bags together. They all look fantastic, and we can’t wait to see the children’s beautiful faces when they receive their bags. A few weeks ago, our community outreach department held a breakfast meeting for our Kidney Kruisers, A group of ambassadors who volunteer to cover lobby days at the dialysis units in our service areas across the tri-state area. Last week, we had the opportunity to attend Methodist University Hospital’s ribbon cutting of their garden pavilion, which was once used as a cooling tower to provide air conditioning to the hospital in the 70s but now serves as a respite for Associates, patients, and visitors. It is a perfect use of space, and the reception was lovely, with a few speakers, food, and the soft music of the violins to set the tone of the evening. Thanks for the invitation, we really enjoyed ourselves.
