Where do you get your eyes checked?

The Southern College of Optometry with the Eye Center does a wonderful job! Did you know they will send your health care insurance for payment if you need it? Dysautonomia causes dry eyes and Dry Eye Syndrome.

They did a great job with my exam, even using these fancy goggles and a space machine to check my retina. All clear...she said.

Once I needed to put my feet up. No problem. Trixie alerted. The student doctor helped out with moving my legs and the doctor brought in a Gatorade.

Do flashing lights and movement have that affect on you?

They do for me but I've come a long way. It's nice to have someone focused on care.

You can even get your glasses somewhere else. 😉

Happy Thanksgiving Team Tara!

When I was little, my momma wrote stories about me she entitled Tara Tales. After Sarah was born, I wrote a few Sarah Stories. Here's where Tara Tales and Sarah Stories meet. 😉

In 2014, I experienced my first Thanksgiving (actually 2013 but who's counting) with difficulty eating. This began the next five years until a Mast Cell Activation Disease diagnosis. This was the key to happier eating.

Rewind to 2005. Sarah was not happy with food or Thanksgiving so I made maple sausage and pancakes. I'm not even sure if she remembers but it was important that we enjoy the time, whatever we ate. She eventually went on a full Gluten-free Dairy free diet and liked Thanksgiving food even less.

Back to the Tara Tales, in 2017 my diet with Gluten-free Dairy free was ramping up. I was deleting many other items as well. Sometimes, I was alone.

Other times, Sarah and I ate take out for our celebration. The most important part was our time together. This year, although hectic, we not only found time together but celebrated with a time honored family tradition, as well.We went out to the movies.

Sarah may be the only one pictured, but we're both here and it was a great day. How have you been defeating dysautonomia ?

How can you refuse an evening with a sunset this beautiful?

After picking up a few copies of and discussing the great work of Alpha Lipoic Acid with a friend, I loaded up and headed to to find a few good books, including my own. Yes! on Germantown Pkwy will have copies.

An amazing conversation over FaceTime! It was like stepping back in time thinking through all of those issues. Sarah was so encouraging and bubbly. She brought joy to my evening.

I'm praying tonight that I blessed her half as much as she blessed me, after I took the time to answer questions she had. Looking forward to introducing her to our group.

The books aren't here in Collierville but I just got word they are in Dallas. Last picture is after an order in Texas. 💙

Not long after leaving, we enjoyed the beautiful skylight. What a sunset! God really showed out!

She has emerged from her neck surgery with flying colors, able to move both arms.

A few weeks ago we celebrated our friendship with a long overdue meal, Mexican style. Talking of long lived memories, family moments and our success story.

The trauma we have endured and and can understand truly makes this friendship closer. My dear friend told me last night how this dis-ease will sometimes do that. Praise God. We need more connection.

Thank you MeLissa for your lifelong friendship and the day you said you appreciated me like the sunshine.
