Janet Xmas (collaborator with the great Chelsea Bridge who Memphis has had the fortune of seeing three times in the past year) will be coming to the Lamplighter Lounge with Bob Hatt and joined by local greats W1ND0W and Noir Walls and you should definitely try to make it out!

I'm deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Mike Honeycutt (aka Mystery Hearsay). He was a mainstay of the Memphis experimental music community as well as the diy cassette culture at-large. I met Mike at the first MC festival in 2017 and am grateful to have gotten to work with him these past few years. He was always an ardent supporter of new experimental music in Memphis. I only wish I could have known him longer to tap into his vast musical and historical wealth. Thank you for everything, Mike.

Unfortunately Cellular Chaos had to cancel their tour, but we'll still be going with a BUNCH of incredible local artists: Dinosauria, Cel Shade, Towering Flesh, and Vincent Manard! This is going to be a great one so come on out!

That was an absolutely incredible weekend! Once again some thanks are in order. First I'd like to thank everyone that came out and listened and gave us a reason to put together all this wonderful music. I want to thank ALL of the artists who performed. Everyone was just beyond fantastic. I'd like to give a big thanks to Jenny Davis and everyone at Crosstown Arts who helped make it all happen. I'd like to thank Samuel Crain and Daniel Lynn for making everything sound so great. I also have a special thanks to everyone who helped make the Electroacoustic Performance happen: Jenny (again), Daniel (again), Otávio Manzano Kavakama, Luzilei Aliel, Indigo Knecht, Patrick J Bolton, Caleb Allen, Elise Blatchford, and Rebekah Alexander. It was a perfect way to end things; plus, over the past few months, I was sure it would fall through a FEW times, and I was moved and humbled that with your hard work (this goes especially for the performers: Patrick, Caleb, Elise, and Rebekah) it not only happened but exceeded my expectations. And now...just keep an ear out for all the amazingly weird sounds Memphis has to offer.

A huge, heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out to the Halloween III live score last night. The warm reception is very appreciated and I'm so happy that so many people seemed to enjoy it! I'm also speaking as a performer for this post, so I want you to know that it's meant a lot to us. There are a lot of people to thank for making this what it was. I'll start with Courtney Fly and Crosstown Arts and the Film Series for working with us to make this happen. I'd like to thank Daniel Lynn, Noah Miller, and Jesse Butcher for making everything run so smoothly yesterday from a technical and logistical level. I'd also like to thank Goner Records and everyone who helped spread the word!

My biggest thanks is to Natalie (I'll tag Optic Sink since her fb account got eaten) and Jacques Granger (aka Revenge Body) for giving the live score so much power and energy. I've made music with Jacques for a long time (for good reason!), but this was my first time working with Natalie and it was an absolute joy. Both of these musicians are extremely talented and creative and I think we were able to put something very special together. Also, I was there so I know how hard they worked on this. We'd all done live scores before, but this is the first time any of us took such a detailed approach (I don't think there was any discussion about it or anything, we all just started doing it, having no idea what we were getting ourselves into!). I'm only calling that out to thank them so much for their dedication to making something really special and magical happen.

BUT hopefully I'm not giving this a tone of finality or farewell. Memphis Concrète 2023 experimental electronic music festival is still going strong for the next 3 days so I hope to get the chance to see more of you soon! Thanks again to everyone!

Memphis Concrète: Synth Fest is IRL Once More Crosstown Theater’s Green Room brightens up with the oscillating lights of synths on June 17th and 18th.

Crosstown Counterpoint: Blueshift Ensemble + Evan Williams (tomorrow!) isn't part of the MC festival, but it's adjacent in more ways than one! Evan Williams and Blueshift Ensemble will be putting on an incredible FREE show with musicians and electronics spread all around the Crosstown atrium!

Another super special treat is happening this thursday - A LIVE SCORING OF HALLOWEEN III! At the Crosstown Arts Art House Theater!
