***GREAT NEWS**
Porter-Leath was one of only 5 AmeriCorps Seniors grantees selected nationally for the AmeriCorps Seniors Workforce Development Senior Demonstration Program.

This grant will expand the AmeriCorps Seniors program with a focus on recruiting, training, certifying and employing seniors interested in early childhood careers at Porter-Leath and other local high-quality early childhood programs.

Twenty-five seniors ages 55+ will serve full-time at Porter-Leath sites beginning in August and complete coursework to earn their Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential™. During their five-month term, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers will serve alongside an early childhood educator to learn best practices and to develop experience in early childhood education.

Volunteers will receive a monthly $1,500 stipend plus CDA training, books, materials and additional educational support. They will have opportunities to seek and apply for early childhood education positions and once employed, will receive six months of mentoring in their new roles.

Burgers and Bingo with Friends was a lot of fun‼️ It was also bittersweet. We enjoyed ourselves, but Rhea will soon be leaving for college and our friends at FLHSLR gave warm well wishes and sincere gratitude for her 3 years of service. Rhea was excited to introduce Shelby Williams our lead teen advisor who will be sharing information on upcoming opportunities to volunteer with Rheas of Hope🥰
