This weekend/ week we are partnering with Baylor to present the 2024 Faith in Medicine Baylor/CCHF Conference!
What does it mean to live out your faith in your vocation?
Take time to learn, to listen, and to lean into ways that God is calling you to live out your sacred vocation in the world. Leave not only refreshed and energized for the semester ahead, but with a clearer understanding of your calling for the future.
Our conference will encourage you with outstanding talks, breakout sessions, personal conversations with faculty and special guests, and opportunities to worship together. We welcome students and faculty from all disciplines and departments of the university.
We have over 15 speakers sharing about Faith in Medicine. We have already heard that students, residents, and healthcare workers are driving to Waco from all over Texas! Even though it is intended for college students, we are inviting all healthcare workers because of the amazing line-up of speakers! “CCHF

Aslan Health is a faith-based, non-profit medical clinic founded with the mission to serve the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of the underserved in their community. Rooted in the love and compassion of Jesus Christ, they believe that healing goes beyond physical well-being. Their aim is to provide holistic care that touches the body, mind, and spirit, creating a sanctuary for healing and transformation.
Clay & Rebecca White (Aslan Health Board Chair & Medical Director) have been working with John Mills, CCHF Senior Clinic Consultant. John has had the privilege of coaching them through the complex process of opening up a faith-based clinic. John tells us that he has been blessed as much by them as they have by his services and expertise. It is always a joy to see new clinics join the movement!
We are excited to announce that the 2024 CCHF Conference workshops are all available on the CCHF YouTube channel. If you missed this year’s conference be sure to tune into the plenary sessions, worship, and browse the 72 workshops that were presented.
Those who attended might want to take some time over the next few weeks to explore workshops you did not attend and revisit the ones you did. We pray you are encouraged, challenged, and refreshed by these workshops. Thank you again to all our passionate workshop presenters!

The first CCHF Cohort Capital Campaign Zoom call was a couple of weeks ago. We discussed funding goals ranging from 900K to 100 million dollars. Some clinics are in the midst of their campaigns and others are just getting started. We shared wins and challenges and were encouraged by those that had great support from their boards and some major funding by foundations.
If your clinic board is considering a capital campaign, or is currently conducting a capital campaign, please consider joining the next CCHF Cohort of Christian clinic leaders! The next call will be this Thursday, August 15th at 1pm EST. To sign up and learn more about this cohort visit cchf.org/capital-campaign-cohort.
Dr. Angela Bymaster, a family physician at Healing Grove Health Center in San Jose, California was recently published in the July/August issue of the FPM Journal. Her article is titled: A Practice Designed to Address Social Determinants of Health. The article details how Healing Grove Health Center creatively addresses social determinants of health in their underserved community and challenges family medicine practices to consider and begin to address SDOH (Social Determinants of Health) in their communities.
The Healing Grove Health Centers are concierge-direct primary care (DPC) hybrids, with concierge patients paying $200 per month. Each full-price patient funds their own primary care and that of two low-income patients. Their goal is to have 300 concierge patients plus 600 low-income patients per physician, resulting in a panel of 900 patients.
While Dr. Bymaster’s article requires a subscription to access we love highlighting the work of Healing Grove and of so many CCHF clinics across America as they labor to address SDOH with compassion and excellence.

Our Director of Programming for Residents and Students, Jessie Thomas, attended the AAFP National Conference this week in Kansas City. Jessie also saw many of our past CCHF Conference student volunteers who were there representing their current programs. It was a good time of networking and learning!
Healthcare administrators and middle managers are crucial to our clinics. They face challenges that are unique to their role. The Vine creates a space for administrators and managers to discuss those challenges and learn from each other. We believe community makes us better.
The Vine is a monthly brown-bag lunchtime virtual meeting to discuss topics of interest for middle managers and support staff. If you are in one of those roles we invite you to attend the 2nd Wednesday of each month. This is a no-cost resource that CCHF offers.
Our next meeting is August 14th via Zoom. We have 2 different times to join, 12:11pm CST or 12:11pm PST. To register at no-cost visit CCHF.org/The-Vine.
Last week the CCHF staff had our annual retreat in Birmingham, AL. While we were there we had the privilege of seeing the Cahaba Medical Center that is located in west Birmingham. In addition to their Birmingham location Cahaba Medical Care has multiple locations all over rural Alabama. There mission statement is:
“We are a local community-based health organization that aims to be an incarnation of love, peace and justice by guiding our patients through their journey toward physical, mental and social well-being, and to be a center for transformational medical education and primary care training in a rural and international context, modeling and exhorting the next generation of medical professionals in a career of excellence, conscientiousness and compassion.”
Cahaba Medical Care also has one of the largest Residency Programs in the Country and it is faith-based. While our staff was there we gathered at Jason Stevens house in the Cahaba Medical Center neighborhood with several of their doctors and residency students who live in an intentional community together. We had a great time of fellowship, prayer, and worship with them.
If you are not already familiar with Cahaba Medical Care please follow their page and visit their website CahabaMedicalCare.com. Please pray that God continues to grow and provide for the work in Alabama! .residency .bsc

The Summer Medical Institute just wrapped up their 33rd year on July 6, 2024. This year’s program had 15 student participants who raised their own money in order to be a part of this three-week medical outreach, living and working in Hispanic North Philadelphia.
Students provide door-to-door health screens, health education and better access to care in the community. This summer also meant that they worked in record breaking heat. In addition to their work in the neighborhood they receive input from faculty who teach, informally mentor and work alongside students. The CCHF community has many SMI alumni who have returned to underserved communities to promote healing in the name of Jesus. The program partners with Esperanza Health Center, a Christian, federally qualified health center with three locations in North Philadelphia.
