The P&h cafe has been home to many of us.
It’s a bar that has the ability to be exactly what you need when you need it. Whether it’s a laugh, a good game of pool, or just a meal and a cold beer.

For some of us it became the home and family we had been searching for and didn’t even know it. People who know you and welcome you at the door with a beer and a half smile. A mutual, unspoken meeting place amidst the haze of cigarette smoke and greasy burgers. Quarters lined up on the rails of the pool tables on Friday nights, and the howl of karaoke drowning out sorrows and misdeeds.

People from all walks of life co-exist and mingle with no matter of your politics or background. Just be cool. Be nice or leave has been a long running motto, and trust me, it’s enforced.

Pnh crowd has always come in waves. An ebb and flow of regulars, some going years without stepping through those doors, but it’s like you never left.

Once family, always family.
•
It’s a place that was there for us when we needed it. It kept us in check when our wild days got the best of us, offered us refuge when there was nowhere else to go. It’s been a place of weddings and wakes, toasts to life and death. Heartbreaks and first dates.

Even as we grow older and our priorities change, we become home bodies and the idea of future hangovers is enough to keep us away, we have a responsibility to the generations coming up behind us. They have a right to have a place to be themselves, a place to find sanctuary in an unsafe world. A place to find a family among strangers.

Memphis is changing, quickly and vastly. This city needs places like the P&H cafe to keep it grounded.

For a place that was always there for us when we needed it, (except on sundays), it’s our turn to step up and be there to save it.

We want to thank all of you for your love and support thru these years. Last night was one last good hurrah to the old bar as we prepare to move. Y'all showed us so much love last night, thank you. You are our family. This meme really best explains the P&H community as such, a family. A family of misfits, freaks, geeks, and everything in between. So many of us have called it home for this reason here. It's a bar we all feel our most selves at. We all have each other's back. So until we open the new doors, sláinte🍻 salud🍻 cheers🍻, we can't wait to see y'all again soon.
