Our last installment for the 2022 Inductee Tribute page is for the legendary drummer, J.M. Van Eaton. In both drumming and life, timing is everything, and J.M. Van Eaton was a master at both. As the studio drummer for Sun Records, the Memphis native played on some of the most influential and enduring rock 'n' roll songs of all time, setting a high water mark for all of those who would come after him. To learn more about his amazing career, check out his Tribute page. https://memphismusichalloffame.com/inductee/jm-van-eaton/

As we continue to roll out incredible online tributes to our 2022 Inductees, we invite you to learn more about the Red-Hot Rocker, Billy Lee Riley. In a fairer world, Billy Lee Riley would have been an even greater superstar. Armed with the same good looks, charisma, and musical ingenuity that made his labelmates at Sun Studio household names, Riley was a true rock & roll original and one of the genre’s first unabashed wild men, helping to set the template for the generations of rock stars that would follow him. But while Billy Lee Riley never achieved the fame and fortune of other Sun acts, his foundational contributions to rockabilly and rock & roll are undeniable. A superstar? Unfortunately, not. An icon? Without a doubt. https://memphismusichalloffame.com/inductee/billy-lee-riley/

Let's turn our attention to another incredible Stax legend being honored this Thursday at the Memphis Music Hall of Fame Induction: Don Nix!

Don was there from the very beginning of Stax Records, making history as one of the Mar-Keys whose chart-topping hit "Last Night" prompted the iconic switch from "Satellite Records" to STAX.

Songwriter, arranger, musician, composer, and author, Nix was in good company with the rest of the Mar-Keys, including Steve Cropper and Donald “Duck” Dunn. Perhaps best known for “Going Down,” the song has been covered by the likes of the The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple , Stevie Ray Vaughan, and dozens of others.

Don't miss this incredible ceremony happening Thursday night! Secure your tickets now through the link in our bio. 🎟️
