Icing is a common practice in injury rehabilitation, and it can provide numerous benefits for individuals recovering from an injury. However, it should be noted that icing is not appropriate for every type of injury. For example, it may not be recommended for certain types of fractures or in cases where the skin has been compromised. It's always best to consult with a healthcare professional to determine if icing is appropriate for your specific injury and to receive guidance on how to properly ice the affected area. When icing is warranted, it can help improve the healing process after an injury. A study published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy showed that applying ice to an injured area can help reduce inflammation and promote the formation of new blood vessels, which can improve healing.
Physical therapy can provide numerous benefits for women after C-section, including improved scar appearance, improved abdominal muscle function, reduced risk of adhesions, and improved overall physical function.According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, women who have had a C-section are at increased risk of developing adhesions, which are bands of scar tissue that can cause pain and other complications. Physical therapy can help prevent adhesions from forming and reduce the risk of complications.
Physical therapy can provide numerous benefits for postpartum women to help women regain their strength and function after childbirth, including improved pelvic floor function, abdominal muscle function, and overall physical function. A study published in the Journal of Women's Health Physical Therapy found that postpartum women who received physical therapy for diastasis recti had significant improvements in abdominal muscle function and a reduction in waist circumference.
Physical therapy can provide numerous benefits for individuals with orthopedic conditions, such as reducing pain, improving function, and enhancing overall quality of life. A study published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy found that patients with low back pain who received physical therapy had lower healthcare costs than those who did not receive physical therapy. The study found that physical therapy reduced the need for advanced imaging, injections, and surgery, resulting in lower healthcare costs.

A C-section includes an abdominal incision and a uterine incision. The most common incision is transverse (right). However, a vertical incision (left) may be required if the baby is breech or sideways, if the placenta is in the lower front of the uterus, or if there are other abnormalities of the uterus. A caesarean is o often performed when va**nal delivery would put the baby or mother at risk.
In 2020, cesareans occurred in nearly 1 in 3 births. That’s more than 1.1 million deliveries. A “C-section” is when the baby comes out through a cut in the mother’s belly and uterus rather than going through the birth canal and coming out through the va**na. Lots of scaring happens in the process of healing. Scaring is necessary for healing as long as we are able to keep our body moving!
