Poverty2Prosperity.org

A U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit! P2P has been making loans since 2008 and has a repayment rate of 99.74%. We give the working poor a help-out rather than a hand-out.

As repayments come in, we put them right back into more loans. Because of the high repayment rate, the first $1,000 donation we received in 2008 is still making more loans today and probably will for another 90+ years. We have a general fund, but we also have specific funds for Women, Youth, Housing, Education, and more...

We have two new funds coming online and we'll probably do a fundraiser this month for one of them. We 've started funds for Climate related loans and a fund for loans in India. Here's more information about our Climate Fund: This is our latest fund created in May 2024. We are pleased to share a collaborative project between P2P, a nonprofit with 501c3 status, and Climate Pilots, a team which finds loans that help people reduce their impact on the climate.

End of 2022 Progress Update:
We'd like to post an update about how P2P is doing through the back-end of the COVID pandemic because it did affect our program. From 2008 to the beginning of 2020, our philosophy was to have as much of our funds as possible out in the field helping people. As soon as we received repayments, we would quickly find new borrowers for that money. For the first time in our history, we made the cautious decision to slow down our loaning when COVID hit in early 2020. At one point, we put all of our new loaning on pause while we waited for continents like Africa to catch up on vaccinations which was as low as 15% for some time. At the end of 2021, we started to ramp up our loaning again only to have Omicron hit, so we paused briefly again to see how this variant would proceed. In mid-2022, we resumed picking up the pace of our loaning and continue to do so at about the same pace as pre-COVID. That said, COVID did affect our repayment rate. From 2008-2020, we had a 99.45% repayment rate, but COVID caused the biggest hit on that rate lowering it to 98.99% which we feel is still quite amazing. On a bright note, our Personal Housing Fund's repayment rate actually rose during COVID which was quite surprising. We look forward to continuing our return to aggressive loaning in 2023.

- During the COVID pandemic, one of our funds had a surprising result: Our Personal Housing fund's repayment rate actually improved while our other funds had a decrease, as expected. The Personal Housing fund is a great way to fight poverty by providing a stable place to live. This helps people to get a job, keep a job, send their children to school, and have a safe place for children to be after school.
Please help us grow our Personal Housing Fund with your donation here on Facebook (they charge zero payment fees) or through our website. If the Personal Housing Fund doesn't interest you, we have funds for youth (24 & under), single parents, women entrepreneurs, USA-only borrowers, education, artists, and an honor/memorial fund to recognize someone in your life. About P2P: We have been making 0% interest loans since 2008 and have made ~25,000 loans with a 98.99% repayment rate. We have a 100% volunteer staff, so since 2008, over 97% of donations have gone directly into our loan-making program. When we receive repayments, we put them right back out in the form of new loans. Due to our repayment rate, the founding donation we received in 2008 will still be making loans in 2100.

If you are donating on Facebook, donate early on Tuesday as Facebook is also putting in $7 million in matching funds, but it'll go fast.

About Poverty2Prosperity.org 08/15/2022

August 2022 Update: In general, we try to be conservative in our fundraising asks and focus on just three dates each year; Giving Tuesday (Nov), International Women's Day (Mar) and our Founding Anniversary (Jul) - we celebrated our 14th year in July! This year, we opted to not hold our annual Founding Anniversary fundraiser due to ongoing inflation and supply chain woes. We feel these are temporary issues and that the economy is in for a soft landing. During Covid, we changed our lending stance away from AGGRESSIVE (95% of our funds working out in the field in the form of active loans) to CAUTIOUS - we slowed our lending to prevent too much exposure from defaults due to Covid. This turned out to be a prudent measure as we saw our biggest decline in repayments taking down our repayment rate from 99.45 (2008-2019) to 98.99% (2022). The most adversely affected were single parents and youth (24 & under). However, our Personal Housing Fund saw an increase in repayment rates from 99.04% to 99.23% which tells us that our other funds will see a rebound!
