AUDITIONS CONTINUE TONIGHT!!

We are so excited for our first show of the 2024-2025 season: "Church Basement Ladies." Some fabulous roles and lots of good-hearted fun to be had this fall at Falls Patio Players.

Our director, Karen, provided some guidance as to the direction we are going with this charming production:

"Our approach to this show will highlight the community and close relationships developed as the Church Ladies serve their congregation. We are aiming to develop the characters as genuine and warm hearted, even as they embrace (or resist) inevitable change in their traditions. There is a lot of silly humor, much of it with Midwest flavor, but we will not be presenting the characters as buffoons. The show will be set in the mid 1960’s."

AUDITIONS TONIGHT!!

Come join our auditions for "Church Basement Ladies," our exciting first show of the season! See below for some character descriptions of our ladies (and one male)!

MRS SNUSTAD (VIVIAN) is a 60- to 70-year-old widow. The matriarch of the kitchen, she is the one that makes sure the food is properly prepared, and traditions are honored.

MRS ELROY ENGELSON (KARIN) is 40 to 45 years old and is second in line to take over the kitchen. She is a fabulous cook, neat and tidy. She is Signe’s mother, less rigid than Vivan and more open to change.

MRS GILMER GILMERSON (MAVIS) is in her late 50’s and is a farmer’s wife and a
grandmother with a heart of gold. Somewhat disheveled, mechanically inclined, and always ready to work out a solution

SIGNE (Beverly) ENGELSON is Karin’s daughter and has just started college at the University of Minnesota. Very sweet, but not afraid to challenge Mrs. Snustad and speak her mind in a respectful way.

PASTOR E. L. GUNDERSON, 45+ years old, is a pleasant fellow who has recently married a young wife, which stirs up some resentment/curiosity among the kitchen ladies.

Auditions for the first show in our 2024-2025 season, "Church Basement Ladies," are coming up this next week!

Our wonderful director, Karen, shared her thoughts on the production to come! Our approach to this show will highlight the community and close relationships developed as the Church Ladies serve their congregation. We are aiming to develop the characters as genuine and warm-hearted, even as they embrace (or resist) inevitable change in their traditions. Auditions - Please prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show – which is lighthearted and upbeat. We will then read sides from the scripts. We will teach a short basic movement routine, and if time allows, we will teach a short selection of music from the show so people can further showcase their abilities.
