There is a misconception in the skincare world where if you experience a breakout, you need to dry it out with actives and exfoliants. Although this may seem productive, it creates an increase in dry/dead skin cells which can lead to further congestion and breakouts in the future!

Hydration + nourishment is the key to creating the optimal environment to maintain a healthy + happy skin barrier!

This doesn’t mean that using actives and exfoliants is bad, but that we should do so intentionally and with care.

What do you do to prepare for your waxing appointments? ✨

Did you know your skincare could affect your facial waxes?

Skincare ingredients like AHAs (lactic acid, glycolic acid), BHAs (salicylic acid), Vitamin A (Retinol) can cause the skin to be more susceptible to damage from waxing!

This may be lifting the skin or burning the skin.

Though in some cases the grazing of the skin after a wax may not last long, it may leave the skin feeling sore and sensitive. And may also scar if not treated and protected immediately.

If planning to receive a facial waxing service, do keep this in mind and stop the use of skincare products with active ingredients 24-72 hours in advance and after the wax appointment! ✨
