When your nervous system feels safe, your mind does too 🧠
Here are some signs that your body might be telling you it feels safe:
1. Relaxed body…jaw unclenched
2. Easy breathing…not holding your breath
3. Life doesn’t feel urgent.
4. You have emotions, but they don’t feel out of control.
5. Sleeping throughout the night…with little to no disturbances.
6. You have the ability to socially engage and ACTUALLY enjoy it…easy conversations + eye contact isn’t a struggle.

Take Control, Empower YourSELF!
In a world full of uncertainties, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the things we can’t control. But here’s a secret: true empowerment lies in focusing on what **is** within our control.
Why This Matters for Mental Health-
When we direct our energy toward what we can manage, we reduce stress and anxiety. It’s a powerful way to reclaim peace of mind and boost our overall well-being.
Here’s How You Can Start:
1. Mindset: Choose a positive outlook. Your perspective can shape your reality.
2. Actions: Take deliberate steps towards your goals, no matter how small.
3. Self-Care: Prioritize your health—physical, mental, and emotional.
4. Response: Manage how you react to situations and challenges.
5. Routine: Establish a daily routine that brings you comfort and stability.
6. Boundaries: Set and respect personal boundaries to protect your energy.
7. Learning: Invest time in learning and personal growth.
8. Relationships: Cultivate positive relationships and communicate effectively.
9. Habits: Build healthy habits that support your well-being.
10. Gratitude: Practice gratitude to focus on the positive aspects of life.
Remember, by focusing on what we can control, we empower ourselves to live a more balanced and fulfilling life!

Proud to be part of this organization ❤️
Yesterday, WDVA Secretary James Bond stopped by Whistling Straits & Blackwolf Run in Sheboygan, WI, to congratulate and meet with Next 18, a nonprofit organization that is the latest Veteran Mental Health Grant recipient for $75,000. He met with their Executive Director, Matt McDonnell, and Board Member Keith Streicher, along with several veteran participants and instructors.
Next 18 is a non-profit based in Milwaukee that facilitates a golf camp mindset woven with mental health and holistic lifestyle resource modules. They provide an introduction to resources such as yoga, meditation, breathwork, mindfulness and body scans, small group interactive processing, etc. The grant will be used to implement 4-day golf camp models and provide the tools and teach the techniques necessary for veterans to improve their mental and physical health by alleviating the symptoms associated with Moral Injury and PTSD. More about Next 18 can be found on their website. https://next18.org/
This grant is part of Governor Evers’ $10 million investment to support Wisconsin Veterans, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). These grants have been made available to nonprofit organizations that promote positive mental health through activities, programs, and services that enhance the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of Wisconsin Veterans.

🌿 Let's debunk a myth: You don't need to be a contortionist to enjoy yoga! 🧘♀️
At 35, I took my first step onto the mat, and let me tell you, flexibility wasn't my strong suit. But here's the thing: yoga isn't about touching your toes or bending like a pretzel. It's about showing up, breathing, and embracing where you are in your journey. All it takes is a breath and the willingness to begin. So whether you're a seasoned yogi or a complete beginner, remember, you're exactly where you need to be.
My classes are suitable for all levels, all you need to do is listen and honor your body.
Or perhaps you're a beginner and not sure where to start? Feel free to message me and together we can start your yoga journey.
Support a local nonprofit, Next 18, doing great work with Veteran/First Responder’s Mental Health ❤️💙

🌿 Embrace Grounding 🌿
Did you know? Grounding practices can work wonders for your mental health! Taking a moment to connect with nature, practice mindfulness, or simply focus on your senses can bring a sense of calm and balance to your day. Whether it’s a barefoot stroll on the grass or a deep breath of fresh air, grounding techniques can help you feel more centered and present. Give it a try and see the difference it makes!
THE PRACTICE
****(Sit or stand with your back straight, both feet on the floor & eyes closed.
For the first few moments focus on your breathing, deepening & expanding it.
Imagine that you are growing roots out of the soles of your feet that go into the ground and spread deep and wide.
Use these roots to release any negative feelings, thoughts, energies (work with these for a few minutes).
Once negativity is released, start pulling positive and nurturing energy of Earth into your body through the roots, let it gradually fill your body from toes to the crown of your head.
Once you are filled with positive energy or whenever you like let yourself rest in its presence.
Now, decide what you are going to do with the roots. You can leave them connected and use them do ground yourself throughout or you can pull them back into your body...
Now, gradually & slowly open your eyes and bring your focus of attention back into the room)******
