Hello everyone we are excited to get the class of 2023 ready for hall of fame night august 26th. How it will work this year is we will take nominations on this post until August 6th. We will then select 10 nominees and have a poll where we will select 5 for this years class. If nominating someone please tell us a little bit of why they should be in the Merced Speedway Hall of fame so everyone knows. Inductee #7 Ted Stofle

When you think of the best Merced Speedway driver there’s one that comes to mind and that’s Ted! A 3 time state champion, a Merced speedway champion of 6 consecutive years! His racing career only 6 short years being cut short due to a hunting accident. He had a total of 110 career wins in six years. Welcome to the Merced speedway hall of fame! We encourage Ted’s family to get in touch with us so we can arrange tickets for the August 20th luncheon and race to honor him and 6 others!

We have 1 inductee left to announce for the class of 2022!! We are so close to hitting the required likes to release it! Who could it be? We look forward to having the hall of fame a part of the Merced speedway season every year!

Inductee #6 Matt Van Hoecke

Matt Van Hoecke was the official Merced speedway track supplier for parts and fuel from 1987-2010 he sponsored cars in every division and in the 80's and early 90's just about every stock car was running a Matt and glass fiberglass body. If he didn't have what you needed he would make sure he would find one for you. He went above and beyond to make sure drivers made it to Merced Speedway weekly! Inductee #5 George steitz

A racer turned promoter he liked doing things big ! His events were big and all about the racers. He was known for his helpfulness to other competitors! He raced the sportsman division and at one point won 4 consecutive races in 1975 at Merced speedway! Welcome to the Merced speedway hall of fame!! Inductee #4 Dennis Moomjean

A true legend at Merced Speedway! Dennis had 112 wins and 9 sportsman championships in his racing career! He raced for 15 years and met many long time friends racing! He was very old school and loved to have the #1 on his car! Welcome to the Merced speedway hall of fame!! Inductee #3 Duane Noe

Known as the sidewinder (hammer down and sideways) Duane Noe was a fierce competitor on the track. Duane also built some incredible motors! Many wins and championships in Duane’s career. Driving in many classes including sportsman and stock cars! Welcome to the Merced Speedway Hall of Fame! Action is the attraction was a line that many will never forget. Johnny was the voice of Merced speedway and brought the energy and excitement to the fans each and every week for many years! I think it’s fair to say when you think of Merced speedway it’s impossible to not think of Chuck Griffin! Chuck was involved in Merced speedway in all aspects but most notably in promoting the Speedway! Chuck promoted the speedway for many years keeping the track alive!!
