At a glance you wouldn’t think that figs are related to wasps, but they are. Female wasps seek out the picky fig’s blooms hidden on its inside wall, enter it and pollinate it. Black Mission Figs, however don’t get wasps, have creamy, jam-like centers, with textured and deeply flavored skin. We get ours seasonally from Marchini Farms & is jammed and used for our Gorgonzola Fig pizza. . How special to live in such a bountiful state. The Valley produces so many gorgeous products.
