Black trumpets. A type of chanterelle that is choice edible. I collect them throughout the blooming season and dehydrate them for use in winter soups and stews. Mushrooms are in general, immune stimulating and protective to your body against colds and flus. It’s an excellent addition to your diet if you can tolerate. Always cook wild mushrooms well and never eat mushrooms raw.

Mushrooms typically should not be eaten by those with autoimmune issues like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus.

A progression of removing a tumor from my dog’s skin using my own black salve. This process all told was a few months. Applying the salve with a bandage changing twice daily. The tumor immediately started to die. The skin opened up and formed a wound about one inch wide and two inches long. Using a healing salve at the same time the wound was never infected. As the black salve dissolved the tumor, the other salve healed the skin. This is the last of the wound. I have several more of these tumors to dissolve.

I don’t recommend ppl do this without an experienced herbalist to walk you through the process and never use black salve on internal tumors under the dermal layers (subcutis).

My vet explained to me they were a sort of skin cancer. Hemangioma. Gabriel was always immune compromised throughout his whole life. Also has Lyme and Anaplasmosis. I’m not surprised he acquired cancer.

I treat him internally with herbs for Lyme as well as chaga and other mushrooms internally for the cancer. He’s 9 years old. A Rhodesian ridgeback.

Mushroom harvest yesterday. With all the rain here in the NE USA the earth provides. (And the dude abides 😏) pictured here from top clockwise: black trumpets, turkey tail, golden and yellowfoot chanterelles, artists conk, and one lobstah. A bitter bolete in there for proper ID. While the bitter bolete isn’t poisonous, it can ruin a dish with its bitterness. Often confused with The King.

Elderberry harvest today (plus more shots of the garden and forest). These ripe purple berries will be dehydrated for use in tea, tincture, and syrup. Sambucus nigra or canadensis are the two varieties I use for medicine. Always dry, cook, or ferment your berries for use internally. The medicine is best when the berries are purple. Anthocyanins make up this beautiful color.
