December - We took all the missionaries to the temple over 4 days (where this photo was taken). Right after, we had a group of 28 departing missionaries and received 22 new missionaries and got sick. Then, we had two Christmas Zone Conferences with service activities, caroling and hot chocolate. Dylan and Grace arrived for Christmas. The biggest news is we found out who our successors will be this week and shared it with the missionaries. We have 6 months left in the England London Mission and are determined to make them the 6 best months, yet!

When we got called to London, we never imagined that our daughter would meet a French boy who was serving in our mission and fall in love (don’t worry, they only started talking once he came home!). All the little things that had to happen for them to meet is truly incredible. We are so proud and love you both!

365 days!! Today marks 1 year since arriving in London. We’ve seen so many miracles as we have served with the finest missionaries. We love them so much!!

Scentsy Family Reunion happens to be taking place in Salt Lake City on this day as we celebrate our first year anniversary. It makes my heart swell to be watching all of you gathered live for the first time post Covid. I couldn’t ask for a better way to celebrate than cheering for all of you on awards night.

Thanksgiving looked a little different this year. Orville and I are in London where they don’t celebrate the day, and our children all gathered in our home in Idaho to fix their first Thanksgiving meal without us.

Our calendar had three zone conferences (all day training for missionaries) this week and we wanted to serve a Thanksgiving meal to all the missionaries for lunch. Our senior couples graciously worked so hard to prepare three days of Thanksgiving for everyone. For me, it was an unforgettable first Thanksgiving with the missionaries of the England London Mission. We couldn’t have asked to be in a better place to celebrate, or better people to celebrate with.

Today marks 3/36 as President and Sister Thompson. A day is a month and a month is a day!!!! We GET to serve with the most amazing Sisters and Elders. They are true disciples of Jesus Christ. We love them so much.

Today also happens to be the first day of our (3-year) mission in the England, London Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. That’s 1096 days if you are counting.

The next chapter began today, June 23, 2021, after an all-nighter of packing. We are leaving our kids, our home, our cat, and our Scentsy life for three years. When we arrive, we will quarantine for 5-10 days in a hotel. Three of the days we will be attending the New Mission Leadership Seminar by Zoom. Thank you for the prayers. We feel your love and support.

We filmed our last Scentsy Family Reunion message along with a welcome message for on-boarding new employees.

There are so many new, extended family members we won’t meet for three years.

To all of you, we welcome you to Scentsy. We see great things in your future. We believe in who you are and what you have to contribute💜

He is risen and He lives. He is here for us at all times. He lives today, tomorrow, always. ❤️

We have started packing for our mission. We have lived in our house since 2007, so we have accumulated lots of stuff. We have made so many memories in our home that I’m finding it hard to think of selling it. How do you walk away and say goodbye to the place you’ve called home for 13 years??

Our hearts are feeling so many emotions right now. Saying goodbye is not my favorite thing.

Even though I am not quite ready to say goodbye to everything in Idaho, we are looking forward to being with the people of London.

On September 18, 2020, we received a call from Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He called it an exploratory interview. He wanted to know all about us, our family and our testimony of Jesus Christ. He ended by saying that if we didn’t hear anything by Thanksgiving, we could go about our lives.
The next call took place on October 8th with President Henry B. Eyring of the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We shared with him our history and our testimony. He then called us to serve as a Mission President couple “anywhere in the world the Lord would call us”. Of course, we said yes.
The Mission Assignment was sent to our email on December 14th, and we received a hard copy in the mail two days later. It took everything in us not to peek before the kids arrived home for Christmas. We had decided to wait until we were all together as a family to open it. Needless to say, that was a VERY LONG week.
On December 19, 2020 we gathered together to finally discover the location of our new journey. My heart was racing as we read the letter. My eyes quickly scanned the letter to find which mission we were assigned. The moment I read London, my heart knew it was our perfect call. Heavenly Father knows us, and the missionaries. We trust Him that we will make an impact on these missionaries as much as they will bless our lives.
In the meantime, we are studying and preparing ourselves to be the best teachers, guides and mentors we can to the wonderful, dedicated missionaries who are called to the England London Mission.

Thanksgiving was a little small, quiet and simple. Only Grace came home.

2020 has been a tough year of struggle, heartbreak, great loss, isolation. I’m sure it started out and ended differently than any of us had planned, which taught us all some new words and ways of life. We’ve learned to rethink, reinvent, rediscover, and reset!

No matter what 2020 brought your way, take a moment to reflect on the blessings of the year. Research reveals that cultivating gratitude has enormous benefits.

**WHAT HAS BEEN GOOD FOR YOU IN 2020? **

On Saturday, our 4th child, and only son got married. That actually makes three weddings in a year for our family. Grace is the only one left to find a perfect match for herself.
We’ve watched the kids leave the nest and make choices we are mostly pleased with😂. The most important choice being who they choose to marry. I for the new sons and now daughter we have gained through marriage.

Thank you for being tuned to the spirit and loving my children. It is hard to watch your kids leave the nest. You hope you have raised them well and that they make good choices. You have hopes and dreams for them that now include another person. We look forward to watching your stories unfold. Thank you for the choices you all made that led you to choosing our children that make you part of our family now.

Our four weeks in LA flew by. Exactly 28 days. I am going to miss this little guy in my everyday. He had lots of firsts, including his first blow out diaper on our outing today before we said goodbye. See you at your first Christmas, Christian.
