One of the more colorful animals in our garden on our new property. A Black-Tailed Rattlesnake, I'm glad he made sure I knew I was walking towards him.
My favorite waterfall in Scotland.
Finally! I've shot pieces (tails, legs, etc.) for over 2 months and finally got him to step where I wanted. I was hoping the camera above the subject would be unique and I think I achieved my goals. Two older Nikon flashes with camtraptions sensor, receivers and transmitters.
A couple of gray fox looking for food on a rotted log
Trumpeter's coming in!
Two adult and one immature Trumpeter Swans coming into an unfrozen Pond near Grand Teton National Park.
Some brown bear photos from a few years ago. These 2 cubs seemed intent on bringing down small alder trees on the banks of this creek while their Mom fished. Feel free to put whatever caption you want on each picture as they kind of lend themselves to that.
One more species of quail checked off (California or Valley Quail).
After breakfast in South Africa. He finally let the lioness's eat after his fill. Phinda.
A wall of Tanagers
From way back. These 2 karakals put on quite show with head shakes and throws with a beautiful peak in the background. The Patagonia area in Chile.
Which of these 2 do you like? I really wanted the first with the mountains is the background to be stunning. But I'm afraid leaving it wide open makes the bull look too small. I welcome all opinions.
"I'm workun here!" I had hoped to find more rutting elk in the aspen but I had to find them where they preferred to be.
So far behind on posting. Here's a nice bugling bull from Jasper National Park. Lori and I went there last month.
Been too busy for photography this summer for several reasons. But Lori and I drove up to Jasper National Park for a couple weeks and I found this lady my first morning out. Young, but she's past the cute stage in my mind. Hope you enjoy the image.
I was excited to get a chance to photograph an American Redstart on my May trip to northern Michigan. I've added their southwestern cousin, the painted redstart which are fairly numerous in S Arizona. Both are beautiful in my opinion.
This is the lightest barred owl I've ever seen. I added another poorer quality image from Fla for comparison. I really like the way the light color stands out from the dappled background. It was very dark underneath this northern forest gallery forest. I think my wife is going to put this one on our wall, we'll find room for it.
A couple images of male blackburnian warblers from my May trip to the upper peninsula of Michigan in 2021. I really enjoy the challenge of trying to get close to these brightly colored small birds. The orange on this species is so bright I have to slightly desaturate the color.
I didn't get to do any horse photography this year unfortunately. We are too busy getting our house ready to sell. Anxious to move somewhere cooler and get out of "the big city"! I took this image a couple years ago while aerially surveying horses on the Gila River Reservation.
A couple of Northern Parula images from the upper peninsula of Michigan. I was able to get quality images of 17 new bird species on that trip. Along with 1000's of mosquito bites and ticks. It was worth it though.
A black and white warbler announces his territory on the upper peninsula of Michigan. I just returned from 7 days of "shooting" there and surpassed my expectations for how many good photos of 16 new species for me I managed to get. I hope you enjoy seeing them over the summer.
A barn owl watches me from deep in the swamp vegetation in Southern Florida.
Snail Kites are used to be called the Everglades Kite, since the majority of the US population is found there. Snail kite is certainly an appropriate name, since that is their primary diet. This beautiful male landed close to my boat for his snail breakfast.
The face on this snail kite is "all business". A snail Kite is not a large raptor, but their fierce look is an intimidating as any eagle I've ever seen. And those red eyes are not enhanced in anyway, they just are bright red!
Breakfast in the air. A female snail kite eats in the air after catching an apple snail in the swampy waters of southern Florida.
A female osprey brings a bream back to her nest in southern Florida. I visited there in mid April and well be posting many images from that trip over the next few weeks. I hope you enjoy them.
