This study showed that total daily energy intake was about 571 kcal less with the diets composed of hard foods, compared to the diets composed of softer foods. Additionally, while eating the diets composed of hard foods, the participants chewed twice as many times with each bite of food andtheir eating rate was 46% slower, compared to the diets composed of softer foods.
