Funny story. So we don’t have any high quality pictures of honey right now because she in intensive training and she basically looks nothing like the stock photo dog I bought to represent her besides that she is also a beagle 😅 (I hadn’t even seen a picture of her when I started making our marketing info on her and got the stock photo 🤦🏼♀️) She is, however, adorable and her name fits perfectly because she is white honey colored ☺️. Would anyone be interested in seeing any videos of her training?
I’m all for jokes and teasing but I wanted to take a moment to be the one to say what is being thought by many but going unsaid. ❤️
Todays we are grateful for:
1) Trent- Spending time with My wife, Children and Brother
2) Alyssa- Healing and Forgiveness
3) Brighten- Christmas Lights and Pretty Music and “When we touch snow”
4) Sage- DADA
5 years ago today I would be running all over town doing bee rescue with and every time I think about it I miss it a little- not like overwhelming sad but just - man that was fun, probably not gonna do that again for a while… but then I get to plant flowers, go to the mall and jump castle, zoo, park, pool, sandbox all day with these two. It’s kinda cool having kids so you have an excuse to do all the stuff you got too cool for but really secretly wanted to do anyway. 🥰👧🏼👧🏼
I got Trent a nut milk making kit for Christmas 🥰…and he one-upped me by getting me a podcast making kit. Eeek. To say Im feeling a little in over my head, out of my league, and all those other metaphors meaning 🥵is an understatement... Because I also feel 🥳 and 🤓 and 🙃. So excited to learn and share and share while I learn. To be completely honest I listen to DrsFarmacy, Joe Rogan when Trent tells me he doesn’t swear too much in that episode and other random episodes of other podcasts here and there. I think having LESS experience from the listener side will be an advantage because I can make the experience exactly what I want it to be without any influence of what it “should be”. One of the reasons I’ve taken a break from doing health-related reels for a while even though I seem to have cracked the code on how to go viral is because I don’t like the code I’ve found. I understand that I have to play by IGs rules but most of the time this means being controversial for the sake of comments and although I don’t mind being controversial I don’t want to be ALL the time. It’s exhausting and not who I really am. The thing that draws me to podcasts is that they allow me a longer format of communication and leaves less room for offending people, responding to hate messages, and the biggest thing, sharing what I really truly think with people who want to learn instead of only speaking to those who already understand and agree with me. I’m not planning to discontinue Instagram- don’t get me wrong. I’m actually hoping that with the outlet of Haws Talks Health I will be able to continue sharing and growing here to a more specific audience in short format while also filling my moral obligation to educate rather than alienate (as the algorithm here seems to be constantly pushing me to do). Idk if any of this is making sense to you and maybe I’m just sharing this all for my own sake- Long story short I’m starting a podcast that will be more conducive to in-depth conversations than this platform and I hope you join. ❤️ Also, please comment below if you still think the Nut Milk Making Kit was a cute idea even though it’s totally overshadowed RN. 😂

So we have Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. So unless there is something I’m missing I would like to re-claim Sunday as Sabbath Sunday. I’m really actually proud of us as a society that among all the commercialism we let Sunday be this week. ❤️ Sunday is our refuge. Sunday is our day or rest, His day of rest. A day of Service, respite from the cares of the world and a day of worship. When I was younger my parents did a pretty good job of teaching me what Sunday is and how to use it to my advantage. In college it was a break from homework, with a young family it is a day to reconnect with no one running around. We don’t visit the store on Sunday, we don’t get gas, we don’t eat at restaurants. This is our attempt to create less work for those who need to work this day. They deserve a rest too! Sunday has become my favorite day of week. Rather than a list of “don’t” I see it as a day of opportunity to make time for important things that we put off the rest of the week. I think everyone deserves a Sabbath. I encourage everyone here to make this December a month full of Sabbaths. I invite you to join me and many others like me who choose to find away to escape the world and lighten the load on those around you-how ever that may be. I encourage you to find a worship service and attend and use this day to deepen family and community connections. I model my life after Jesus Christ and he rested.
I love it when people say « I’m 3 days late on posting my baby’s month updates ». Girl, besides the fact that no one is keeping score on if you even do it at all, you just gave yourself away to everyone. My own husband asks me how old my baby is. You think people are gonna remember the exact day of the month your baby was born? Also, Happy five months Sagey Bee! Bit of wisdom for ya: Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
What is your home life/ work life balance like? Do you love where you’re at or do you wanna do better? Please give me an idea of what is normal for you this time of year- especially if you own a small business. Our plan is to work more now and then take a whole month off at the end/beginning of the year but right nOw it feels like a lot and after a break with family yesterday and picking back up momentum today I’m asking myself Will it be worth it? That’s the ultimate question here… also the southwest salad at is amazing and I can’t stop telling people about it. I got it for the first time yesterday.
Come see us :)
I wanna take some time to talk about the economic variables at play this year that have and will continue to create food and other commodity shortages. ( I don’t understand this stuff super good but I’m doing some research) My best advice over all is to shop local, friends. Keeping it close to home takes out the middle man meaning, among other benefits, there is less disruption in the chain and you have more consistent access to things that might not be available from any other source, for the first time in your life! If anyone asked me the most impactful way to prep for uncertain times ahead I would say 1) shop local- expect shortages this Christmas, set expectations and look for local sellers with unique gifts instead and buy early 2)meet farmers, growers and makers locally (local sellers are loyal to their customers and it can be a great benefit to know them BEFORE shortages happen) come say hi to us at a market!! Mark at should be the most popular guy in town right now in my opinion! And lastly 3) Learn how to, and plant a garden!
If you’re looking for us this month here is where we will be! -We only sell at the coolest places btw so if you are looking for unique and fun buying experiences this fall every single market we sell at is a place I enjoy shopping myself!- and you can bet that I do just that 😉. These are all great opportunities to meet us and get your hands on our products if you’re not sure exactly what you want to order online! We also often sell unique items at markets that aren’t available online just to keep it fun :)
Current mood.
Did you know there is virtually no dementia in Ikaria, Greece. In residence over 85 it is still rare- which is shocking given that in Americans over 85 the rates of some sort of dementia sit at about 50%!
So when I was younger I was afraid to try too hard at something because I didn’t want to admit that I cared about it. Because if everyone knew I cared that much then if I failed they would make fun of me. So I kept looking for something I KNEW I could succeed at, something easy for me, instead of something I wanted to do. Then I met Trent - and he made me realize all the stuff my parents had been telling me all my life about success and working hard were true and all the lies about how much of success is chance were just that- lies. Now instead of focusing on what’s attainable I focus on what I want. Success is more about work than it is about chance or circumstance here in the beautiful 🇺🇸 USA .
Being a beekeeper and knowing National Honey Bee Day is coming up feels kinda like having another kid and I haven’t planned their birthday party yet but I have to do SOMETHING- and it’s not like I forgot the day I just can’t decide on what to do. This Saturday, Aug 21st is National Honey Bee Day. We’ll see what I figure out in the next few days haha.
It’s the oversized beekeeping suit paired with tiny pink socks for me. 🥰🥰🥰 Love my little beekeeper! She went out with daddy to check our smaller hives at Love that we can teach our girls to work hard with their hands from the time they’re small. ❤️ oh P.S. This is her first time going back out after her first bee-sting of her life a few weeks ago and she did great! Wasn’t even scared!
You know you vacation somewhere too much when you start moving hives there. 🤣. In my defense 2 of the 4 hives in flagstaff are my dads. We basically think everyone should be a beekeeper at some point in their life. And when it’s your time they literally just come to you! For me it was when I came down to the desert to be set up on a date with a beekeeper… and then I found another beekeeper on my way down and married him! For my dad he found a hive that fell off of someone’s truck k on the side of the road and threw it bare hands onto his truck and brought it home. A few weeks later another swarm came and landed on his backyard tree and he wa able to relocate it! Now my parents live life on their 2 acres mowing around wild flowers instead of over them and buying cute little bee water dispensers. Who knew 🤷🏼♀️🤗. Share your crazy or cool bee experiences with me below! The more unbelievable the better!
Chubs thinks you should go (swipe for your invite).
(I was gonna make a reel but I put myself in timeout from reels for the day since my reel yesterday). So while I’m in timeout here goes: When you have a baby in your care it’s a natural instinct to protect them. This can be utterly overwhelming (that may or may not be a breastfeeding joke). As part of the natural psychological process of protecting a child your brain has to evaluate what is a true threat and what is not. Unfortunately sometimes it’s easier to put things in that not-a-threat category than it is to except that somethings are threats that you can’t always control. Having control feels essential to protecting a baby. But sometimes part of protecting a baby is recognizing there are threats that you can’t control and that you just have to do your best. In reality this is a better way to protect them because you’re able to control what you can and let go of the rest instead of using your energy trying to prove something isn’t “a big deal” at all…So what in the heck am I trying to get at right now??? Plastic exposure is everywhere (you’ll learn just HOW everywhere if you follow my stories tomorrow) and you will never be able to control it all- but that’s not the point- and writing me off as someone crazy health-fanatic-conspiracy theorist won’t change that. Knowledge is power and my point in sharing about plastic this week isn’t to overwhelm, but to empower, once you have the knowledge you can make small incremental changes that get easier with practice AND societal acceptance. The goal isn’t perfection- it’s doing your best and leaving the rest up to our miraculously created bodies that can handle and heal from so so much! .baby
So we all had coordinating family outfit this morning-I have witnesses. They were cute too. K ready for some Words of Wisdom from Alyssa that she recently realized and is obviously qualified to give: Sometimes you just have to TAKE the PICTURE or it won’t ever happen. 🤷🏼♀️ Happy 2 months Sagey Bee!
I have never met any person who does not breastfeed who is offended by me saying how amazing I think it is. I’m learning we are all way less offended in person than we claim we are on social media. Im even guilty of this! Why do you think this is? Do you think social media is inherently divisive? (DM if you don’t wanna write it here because I truely want to know what my OGs think even if you don’t want to type it out for the world to see)
I see skies of grey, pink salmon too and i think to myself, what a wonderful world.
Vacation. Did you know about 54% of Americans don’t use their Paid Vacation!! Well I’m not one of them 😂. Here at Haws Bees we have a work hard, play hard policy.
Mesquite!!! Coming your way next week! If you didn’t vote on my last post you definitely should- especially if you were going to order Mesquite Honey anyway and want $5 off! Weigh-in coming at you in just a few hours!
Any guesses how much Sagey Bee weighs? I don’t actually know. All I know is she is a CHUNK. 🥺🥺 And this next part is for Trent because he loves games and prizes: $5 off code for hawsbees.org if you guess. $10 code if you’re the closest by the time I weigh her tomorrow. (Multiple winners permitted, will be contacted via DM. Codes will be valid on any purchase on our web store through July 31st 2021).
Still growing into it but she loves checking on the bees with daddy. We usually keep the bees in the organic orange groves year round but we decided to experiment a little and have four in alfalfa and 1 pollinating for our friends at .
What do you think the honey from alfalfa will look like? Light like orange blossom or dark like mesquite? I can’t wait to see!
Because someone needs to hear this: Take Family pictures- professional, self-timer, on your phone, whatever… just take em! When is the last time you took a photo with your entire immediate family?- just think about that for a sec.
It was so fun doing this shes floor with Trent. The homeowner was cooking a bunch of pork while we were there and it smelled so good when she opened her door to hand us a check 😂😂. So funny the things I remember about different jobs.
How could the honey not be the sweetest when it’s harvested by these 2? 🥰🥰
