We hosted a local sword and buckler tournament yesterday! Congrats to our medalists, and thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered! We’re already making plans for the next one ⚔️
Big congrats to our own John D. for his silver medal in the jian category at the Phoenix Wushu Nationals! We have collaborated with the Chinese martial arts community in Arizona and were very grateful to be invited to enter some of our students into their tournament over the weekend.
Also congrats to our friends at Ironwood Historical Swordsmanship for their gold and bronze finishes! ⚔️🌵
Our team went to SoCal Swordfight and returned victorious! Everyone fought marvelously and conducted themselves gracefully. We even came home with some new cookies!

We had the pleasure to host Boxer's Rebellion Martial Arts to show us how they use the jian in a modern competitive setting. We love cross-cultural sword seminars and are happy to strengthen the ties between all sword arts.

Next AG Open Instructor Spotlight!
Kari has been a student with Mordhau Historical Combat in Mesa, Arizona since 2021. Though her time in HEMA has been short, her list of weapons that she's competed and trained in is long: longsword, rapier, smallsword, sabre, messer, dagger, sword and buckler, singlestick, broadsword, mixed weapons, and longsword cutting. She has medaled five times in longsword tournaments and once in rapier. Kari also brings in her passion for statistics and data science to the HEMA scene; she has contributed multiple articles to SwordSTEM that look at sword fighting from a statistical perspective.
Mordhau Head Instructor Brittany is traveling to Michigan shortly to compete in the Tier A Cutting tournament and to give a lecture at AG Open.
Brittany is the Head Instructor and Co-Founder of Mordhau Historical Combat in Mesa, Arizona. She is a decorated competitor and respected instructor who has taught and competed at the largest HEMA events in the world.

Mordhau is double dipping on events today! We have a team fighting, sparring, and learning at an event in Denmark and we also have a team competing locally at the Phoenix Society.
In Denmark, Tony placed in the top 6 finalists for the tournament. Meanwhile Brittany is teaching a class tomorrow, and Paul, Rob, Josh, Donald, and Victoria are soaking up everything the Denmark sword community has to offer.
Back at home, Ramon and Kari are competing in open longsword at the Phoenix Society, and Curtis is competing in beginner’s longsword.

We had a ton of fun doing our mini messer tournament today! Thank you everyone for a wonderful time. We didn’t get too many pictures but the ones were did get turned out incredibly well! Thank you Toby Sear Photography for these awesome shots! ⚔️
The boys coming home victorious from SoCal Swordfight! Alberto brings home a gold medal in Tier C Longsword Cutting, Lucas coming home with a bronze medal in Beginner’s Synthetic Longsword, and Ramon cleaning up with a 4th place finish in Tier C Longsword Cutting.
The rest of the team did exceptionally well too, the MordHorde had an excellent showing! ⚔️
We’re at SoCal Swordfight this weekend. Starting the day off with the Team Relay tournament. Jon, Ramon, and Kari made up MordTeam2. They faced off against our friends from Einhorn and True Edge this morning⚔️

Mordhau went out to the quick and deadly duels tournament hosted by our friends at the Phoenix Society of Historical Swordsmanship. Nik and Curtis competed for the first time, while Kari and Ramon demonstrated great fights as the veterans on our team.
Big congratulations to Ramon who came away with a silver medal in the rondel dagger category! Mordhau’s first medal of 2023, and medal #2 for Ramon ⚔️

Shield Knock 2022 has wrapped up! We had a lot of fun hosting everyone and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back next year for Shield Knock 2023.

We’re approaching the final days to register for Shield Knock! With that said, we have a couple announcements regarding the event:
1) unfortunately our guest instructor, Henry Hill, is not able to make it. ☹️
2) we will have Michael Chidester join us instead! 🤩
3) regular Mordhau classes will be cancelled on Nov 12 & 13 to accommodate Shield Knock.😎
Kari has been tearing up the tournament scene this year, she returns victorious with a bronze in womens longsword from Gesellenfechten in Oklahoma.
