Computers are just rocks we tricked into thinking by putting lightning inside of them.
📱 Did You Know?
The first-ever smartphone was invented by IBM in 1992, and it featured a touchscreen! It was called the Simon Personal Communicator, and while it looked more like a brick than the sleek devices we carry today, it was revolutionary for its time.
Simon wasn’t just a phone — it allowed users to send and receive emails, manage their calendar, take notes, and even use some basic apps. Although there was no Internet as we know it today, Simon used a cellular analog network to send emails and messages, which was incredibly advanced for the time. It also came with a stylus to help navigate the touchscreen.
Incredibly, this early smartphone had features we now take for granted, like predictive typing and an address book, though it only lasted about 1 hour on a full charge!
Even though it was bulky and had limited capabilities compared to today’s phones, Simon paved the way for the smartphone revolution and set the stage for the tech we rely on every day. It's a reminder of how far technology has come in just a few decades! 🤯
