3 years to the wildest “Yes” I’ve ever made.

Three years I ago I leaned so hard into the biggest ask of my professional career. During the shutdown, I felt like clients were wanting more than just great hair, they were desiring relationship.

After ten years of being a stylist, I asked myself, “Can I fill a building with stylists that care for both relationship and beautiful hair?” I thought and prayed. I searched for the best building. We humbly opened our little salon.

When I say that the last three years have been some of the most transformative, that word doesn’t even begin to describe what’s taken place.

I have felt some proud.
I have failed a million times.
I’ve sat back and watched some incredible young women develop into INCREDIBLE stylists.
I’ve laughed, prayed and cried with yall in my chair more times than I can count.
I have welcomed new team members.
I’ve said goodbye.
We’ve celebrated weddings, pregnancies, grieved loss and navigated health scares.

You see, we are stylists and we do great work. I LOVE my job. But the thing I look forward to every single day is everything outside of the hair. I am SO proud to be surrounded by the greatest team and an environment like no other.

Sydney asked for “glow + low maintenance” as she is welcoming a baby boy later this summer!

Low maintenance doesn’t mean NO maintenance, but it helps keep you out of the salon as much!

Depending on length and client preference, we suggest that our clients return for a maintenance appointment between 3-5 months after their initial appointment to refresh a gloss, add a little glow around the face, and dust your ends to help keep everything looking it’s best.

3-4 color appointments a year? I’m ALL in.

I don’t know about you, but that time line feels so right to me!

Wanna know the secret to healthy hair?

It’s not a vitamin.

The secret is a healthy scalp.

Healthy hair cannot and will not grow out of a scalp that is suffocated. Proper cleansing is the FIRST step in maintaining a healthy scalp. Ever heard of DOUBLE CLEANSING? Let’s break it down…

Cleanse first with GENTLE CLEAN. Gentle clean is a gentle, color safe clarifying shampoo. Clarifying shampoo will clean the hair and scalp of oils, product build up and other environmental elements.

Cleanse SECOND with your desired wash. Need volume? Use a volumising wash. Need smoothing? Use a smoothing wash. Your wash type will match your desired style type!

Condition THIRD with your desired rinse. Your rinse determines what you’re trying to heal. If your hair is dry, use a hydrating rinse. If it’s damage you want to fix, a repair rinse will be best.

I’ve been thinking about fear a lot lately.

A client and great friend of mine were having a conversation today in the salon. She was sharing about her career with me (she trains her company employees how to be better and more efficient sales people/leaders). I shared with her about my recent trip to LA with and how most of our training was about working through the fear around offering new services/products and how we second guess ourselves.

This got me thinking — and she backed me up on this…

THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY DONT KNOW.

You don’t ask the question, they can’t answer it.
You don’t offer the product/treatment/service, maybe you don’t know that there is a pain point there.
You don’t bring up the bee education, you don’t give them an opportunity to experience a change in style/color.

All of this to say, take the leap. Tell them everything, every time. Give them the best of the best every single time, without your imposter syndrome taking center stage ✌🏻I’m telling this to myself too, friends…

It’s the start of a new week — what are YOU doing to make it a great one?

For me, I take Mondays to prep for the busy days ahead.

The last couple of weeks as I drink my morning coffee, I find a scripture that I like to pray on for the week. This sets my heart at ease, and then I head in to my tasks. Grocery shopping, salon errands, touching base with my stylists and setting them up for a great week…

Little behavior changes make a world of difference, especially with a client facing job like mine. I find that when I am in a good place mentally I can give my absolute best during my workday.

Here’s to better habits and happier Mondays. Go get ‘em.
