TxDOT is working with Moore County Airport in Dumas on a project to increase capacity and accommodate larger aircraft. This can also help emergency responders have space when fighting future wildfires. The plane pictured is using smoke to increase its visibility in low-flying situations, such as crop dusting.

To help reduce congestion for cruise and cargo operations, the Port of Galveston broke ground on its cargo infrastructure project, with funding from TxDOT. The recent Texas Legislative Session allocated historic, first-time funding for port infrastructure improvements like this one, which will allow the port to accommodate new business, generate hundreds of new jobs, and lessen the cost of cargo movements.

Two opportunities to learn more about proposed improvements for 12 miles of Interstate 30 (I-30) between Ferguson Road and Bass Pro Drive in Dallas County are scheduled to start July 11.

This corridor runs through the cities of Dallas, Mesquite and Garland.

TxDOT is hosting an in-person public hearing on Thursday, July 11 in Mesquite. Participants can view materials and provide comments on the plans, which include widening I-30 in the corridor, frontage road construction and accommodations for bicycle and pedestrian traffic. This will be a come-and-go format with a 6 p.m. presentation.

A virtual option with the same materials will also launch at 5 p.m. on July 11 and be available through July 26.

Thursday, July 11
Open House 5-7 p.m., with a 6 p.m. presentation

Dude, it’s not cool or safe to veg out when drowsy behind the wheel.
Avoid driving alone when possible.
Try to get 8 hours of sleep if you can before hitting the road,
Take a short nap if you feel the need.
On long trips, stop for snacks and breaks.
You can always dial 911 in case of an emergency or to report a suspected intoxicated driver.
