Saturday night is gonna be one for the books. Special thanks to everyone in our little surf community that has helped put this together. The gram only allows you to tag so many people but you know who you are.
Saturday night is our first annual celebration and fundraiser for . All proceeds to benefit the GigiMac Fund. We will have tees, hats, shirts and plenty more, but most importantly is beer, beer, beeeeeeer!
This event is free with a suggested $10 donation and you will receive a commemorative Dinger cup and free beers while supplies last!
All merchandise for sale is *CASH ONLY*.

Hello to all friends and family of F1RST.

First of all, thanks to all that have reached out and offered their condolences. We will get to answering the questions concerning the future of the company at a later time. For now, We want to focus our efforts on remembering our friend Christian who meant more to our South Beach Community than any of us had ever imagined.

Please join us at Red’s Garage and Art Gallery in Little Haiti on Saturday, December 21st, 2019 from 7:00 pm until midnight for a celebration in honor of our friend Christian Tupac De La Iglesia (a.k.a. “Dinger”) for his birthday . We will be having an art show featuring some of our favorite local artists such as Rudy DuBoé, Alejandro Andrés, Red Castéllanos, Aléjandro Rico, Jona Cerwinské, 3rdandOcéan and many, many more (We believe all artists deserve some flare over their “é”).

Also available will be a limited run of "Dream Like Dinger" tee shirts, hats and memorial cups (yes, they will be plastic, but they will be reusable), along with a complete and final liquidation sale of all remaining merchandise from F1RST SURF SUPPLY Co. Adult beverages generously provided by Veza Sur Brewing Co and a Mezcal punch provided by our friends at Bar Lab and Illegal Mezcal. A friendly $10 donation is suggested for the cup and unlimited beer.

THIS EVENT CASH ONLY and all proceeds will go to help with the Gigi Mac family fund.

The surf may have dropped but it’s prime conditions for a little paddle boarding fun. With some bait fish running close to shore these days, you get a great vantage of watching Mother Nature do her thing. Shop hours are 10-7 every day, take one of these guys out for $20. .

There will be a BBQ TONIGHT from 6p-10p with $5 choripan’s and $10 steak sandwich’s as well as $5 beers (100% of the proceeds will be donated to who is one of the great non profits helping the 🇧🇸). We plan to show a surf flick as part of our monthly movie nights we host with and what better way to watch it then eating and drinking for a good cause. The no swim advisory has been lifted. Thanks to all the volunteers on the BWTF (Blue Water Task Force) with Surfrider Foundation Miami Chapter for all their work weekly. The team is always open to new volunteers, if you want to find out how you can help, sign up and donate some time or money to help the cause. We all don’t have to help the same way but as long as we help in some way, we advance the cause.

The Florida Department of Health has issued swimming advisories for the beaches in the vicinity of First Street, 21 Street and 73 Street.

The advisory recommends not swimming at these locations at this time. Daily samples will be taken and upon satisfactory results, the swimming advisories will be lifted and you will receive a notification.

Some small kine rideable surf on tap behind the shop in the knee high range, FINALLY!!! 🤦🏽‍♂️

Tide is filling in with a dead high at 12:07p so the outgoing could bump it up a bit before it goes dead low at 6:12p, dare we say a thigh high wave could appear? I know...it’s hard even writing any of this but hey, we have trade winds pushing thru and the ocean is waking back up again, we’ll take it!!! We got boards to rent if ya need it, swing by...

So this happen last night....
our local chapter Surfrider Foundation Miami , received an epic award on behalf of the shop during the national summit at Surfrider Foundation HQ, where we were 1 of 6 to get one. The award goes to our efforts locally to help promote and assist the amazing volunteer driven chapter and our community in doing the right thing. Whether it’s having the BWTF (Blue Water Task Force) lab at the shop testing our ocean water quality in 5 different locations in a 14 miles stretch of coastline or its supporting events and cleanups, we do what we can to walk the talk. . Humbled in receiving the award, we proudly accept and dedicate it to our locals and the community we love, thank you!

This Friday, August 2nd, we launch the first of a monthly series of surf film showings called, . We teamed up with , and to offer you a monthly Happy Hour that brings the community together to catch up and get some story talk going, this months feature is “Heavy Water”. . .

This Saturday, get out and get down to the beach and share some suds with buds for that starts off on the shoreline behind our new location at just off 2nd and Ocean Drive. will have their tent posted up from 4p-7p on the sand then we bring the fiesta to the pool deck of the hotel with some discounted bites and beverages provided by our new epic neighbors from 7p-10p. This is a plastic free event so bring your own cups or you can support Surfrider by purchasing some of their tin cups to use that evening. .
Will be showing new short film that was recently released starting at 8:30. .

Man it’s been a challenging 42 days since we last left our old location. Ups, downs and whole lots of trusting the process has gotten us to this point. Thankful for the community around us that has helped out thru this process from moving to giving us storage space to painting and building, with out them, we wouldn’t had been able to put this humpty back together again. So much has been going on the last month or so that we didn’t get a chance to formally thank our Surfrider Foundation Miami Chapter and our community for this huge honor. We all don’t have to help the same way but if we help in any way, we stand the chance of getting some real change to happen. Hope to see you on the beach this Saturday, May 18th on the beach at 5th st in South Beach at 11a as we join Hands Across The Sand to protest offshore drilling.

Oh man...even though we aren’t shutting down the business and just moving a block away, there are some serious feels happening right now. It’s crazy...9 years we have been in this space doing what we do, connecting dots and people. Looking forward to what’s next but before we get into any of that, we still have today. And today...we celebrate. Celebrate everything and everyone that’s helped us get to this point and in this town....it’s harder then most think. . .

A year ago we teamed up with to start a podcast called “Talk Story” that touched on surf culture, local happenings, local historical stories, weather forecasts and reports. It started off as a couple of surf nerds talking about all things surf and didn’t really expect much of it. Then we started getting great feedback and appreciation for it, so we kept it going. .
Well a year later, we are taking the show on the road and have tweaked the format a bit to focus on what is the surf cultural epicenter of each coastal town, the surf shop. From the comings and goings, the shenanigans of yesteryear to the challenges of staying relevant and in business in these technology driven days, we want to know what makes each shop tick. We are stoked that our F1RST road trip is to hang and with the crew up the road at . We bring the party from tacos to brews and even in some cases, live music, to each shop in the hopes that we can get some new eyes on a shop that you may not get a chance to stop into or hear about their history. .

We’ve preached community for a long time. From what we hope we mean to it in ours to what anyone can do to improve in theirs. We love the daily reminders of how epic our local contingency is and here is one that proves just that. .
Had a guy come thru and drop off these 7S super fish surfboards (6’8 and 6’3). Not for ding repairs or to have on consignment but to be donated to someone that could be in need of a surfboard to either get into surfing or advance in it. These are the examples of that give us the daily push to strive for better and to do more. .

Mother Ocean throwing us some small kine wave love our way. It’s knee to thigh high with an occasional bigger set and could bump up a bit as the day goes on. Winds come more onshore as the day goes on but should taper off just before dark, get it while you can!

Don’t know what’s to come but we are going to keep our doors open until they force them shut themselves. Beyond thankful and humbled by the outpouring of love from our community, y’all have quite the influence in this town!! .
We will be here waiting it out, swing by and let us keep you company. .
