2021 was a difficult year and just when it was looking like we over the pandemic in Portugal in the 3rd quarter, and reservations were flowing in for our apartment in Lisbon, we started to see the emergence of Omicron in late Nov, and unfortunately Dec reservations were all cancelled, nonetheless on a positive note , our apartment managed this year to receive the: Traveller Review Awards 2022

Portugal has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world and even though daily case counts have been high in Jan, but it has relatively very few hospitalizations from the fully vaccinated and boosted population.

Miami was off to a good start unfortunately Covid and non-vaxxers put the brakes on the fun after July 2021 so we seen a lull in interest. I cannot understand anyone not wanting to get back to normal, and it is not fair that we all have to pay for those reluctant to get the jab.

Nonetheless 2022 is looking promising for snowbirds who want to head south for the winter and with 70% of Canadians fully vaccinated as of today, we should be in the 80% plus range by them.

On the 4th July, I was bragging about how Miami was back in the swing of things, then Delta exploded and the anti Vaxxers have put a damper on the fantastic progress being made. I cannot understand these people, for sure they don't want to get back to normal otherwise they would follow the majority and get vaccinated. After losing 2 family members to Covid, there was no question in my mind that I would take the vaccine if it helped people from dying , think about it, get vaccinated and help us get back to normal and maybe you could come and stay with us in the near future.

Thank you for the busy season we had in 2021, it brings some joy to see Miami back in the swing of things. We could improve the situation however by getting vaccinated.
The more people get vaccinated the more freedom for all, including travelling abroad, cruises, hugging each other and yes even handshaking but it all depends on you who are still unvaccinated and delaying the full return to normal. The whole world is waiting on you everywhere that are hesitating.

Now as for our apartment in South Beach, we still have the month of Aug through mid Dec open, and the water is fantastic, the sand beckons and Florida business are open, catering to all with utmost care of following protocol.
