🇺🇸 Bruxism: involuntary action of contracting the muscles of the mouth, face and back.

The ideal treatment is:
✅ First an analysis 🧐 of the occlusion.
✅ Second, make relevant occlusal adjustments.
✅ Third, install an orthostatic muscle relaxant splint; and
✅ As a last resort we use therapeutic Botox wich we place at the masseter and temporal muscles.

In the life of a patient’s👩 they must be reminded and kept in mind that the signs of bruxism can occur with or without wear of the teeth in addition to pain in the head, face, neck, lower back and can worsen as the day or as the day goes by first hour in the morning.

🇪🇸 Bruxismo: acción involuntaria de contraer los músculos de la boca, cara y espalda.

El tratamiento ideal es:
✅ Primero un análisis 🧐 de la oclusión.
✅ Segundo realizar ajustes oclusales pertinentes.
✅ Tercero, instalar una férula ortostática miorrelajante; y
✅ De último recurso utilizamos el Botox terapéutico el cual lo colocamos a nivel del músculo masetero y temporal.

En la vida de un paciente👩 hay que recordarle y que tenga presente que los signos del bruxismo pueden cursar con desgaste o no de los dientes además de dolores de cabeza, cara, cuello, espalda parte baja y puede empeorar a medida que transcurre el día o a primera hora de la mañana.

🇺🇸 Why is dental photography important for your clinic❓

📷 Photography is used as a tool to express and communicate ideas; In dentistry, the purpose is to obtain a record of the clinical manifestations of the oral cavity (which favors medical-legal 📒documentation), the diagnosis and treatment plan, scientific communication, communication between specialists with the dental laboratory , 👩 patients’ understanding of the current status and their treatment options.

Dental photography allows us to analyze the 🦷 oral anatomy to the millimeter, and provides us with a good graphic dossier that helps optimize the work and continue moving towards higher quality.

It is necessary to have knowledge about its use to obtain the advantages that intraoral and extraoral 📸 photography can provide. Knowledge is necessary from the basic principles of photography, knowing the equipment, accessories, 💡lighting, settings, 🎞️editing, purpose of use, printing, documentation and publication.

La 📷 fotografía se utiliza como herramienta para expresar y comunicar ideas; en odontología tiene como propósito obtener un registro de las manifestaciones clínicas de la cavidad oral (lo cual favorece la 📒 documentación médico-legal), el diagnóstico y el plan de tratamiento, la comunicación científica, la comunicación entre especialistas con el laboratorio dental, la comprensión de los 👩 pacientes del estado actual  y sus opciones de tratamiento.

La fotografía dental nos permite analizar al milímetro la anatomía 🦷 oral, y nos proporciona un buen dossier gráfico que ayuda a optimizar el trabajo y seguir avanzando hacia una mayor calidad.

Es necesario tener el conocimiento sobre su utilización para obtener las ventajas que la 📸 fotografía intraoral y extraoral pueden brindar. El conocimiento es necesario a partir de los principios básicos de fotografía, conocer el equipamiento, accesorios, 💡 iluminación, configuraciones, 🎞️ edición, propósito de su uso, impresión, documentación y publicación.

Using the technique of 1️⃣ a surgical phase to be able to shape and prepare the soft tissues, we use an anatomical healing pillar with a modified platform to be able to receive a crown, this requires a high aesthetic demand.

🇺🇸 Digital dental implant planning is an approach that uses 💻 computer imaging technology and computer-aided design software to accurately 📒 plan the placement of dental implants in either the maxillary or mandibular bone. Using this technique also allows us to include the final prosthesis that the patient will wear, since the location of the implants can be optimized to support that prosthesis that will provide us with the ideal biological, functional and aesthetic requirements for the patient 👩

On this occasion we can see in the images the digital planning of implant placement of a patient who is 🦷 dentate, and who for various reasons will become totally edentulous, and with good planning a fixed prosthesis will be placed with immediate loading same day of surgery.

🇪🇸 La planificación digital de implantes dentales es un enfoque que utiliza tecnología de imágenes por computadora 💻 y un software de diseño que es asistido por una computadora, para 📒 planificar con precisión la colocación de implantes dentales ya sea en el hueso maxilar o mandibular. Al utilizar esta técnica también nos permite incluir la prótesis final que llevará el paciente, ya que se puede optimizar la ubicación de los implantes para soportar esa prótesis que nos va a proporcionar los requisitos biológicos, funcionales y estéticos ideales para el paciente 👩

En esta oportunidad podemos observar en las imágenes la planificación digital de colocación de implantes de un paciente que está 🦷 dentado, y que por diversas razones va a pasar a ser edéntulo total, y con una buena planificación se colocará con carga inmediata una prótesis fija el mismo día de la cirugía.

🇬🇧 In June, I was invited by Dr. Jorge Arango -UNICOC University Dean (Colombia)-, to talk about prosthetic and surgical considerations in the digital planning of dental implants.

I'm grateful to Dr. Jorge Arango for his words that moved me, as we are both graduates of Boston University and the same postgraduate degree in prosthodontics.
