🔍 When craving seafood 🐠🐟 and you’re 🤰...

You don’t have to give it all up! Fish like other protein-rich foods have nutrients that are beneficial for mother and baby. If you’re pregnant, it is perfectly safe to eat 2 to 3 servings a week of the fish in the “best choices” list or 1 serving a week from the “good choices” list. During pregnancy, always avoid fish high in mercury as well as undercooked or raw fish as it increases the risks of exposure to certain types of bacteria during pregnancy and is more likely to contain bacteria and parasites. If you have any questions on what you can eat and shouldn’t eat during pregnancy or any other questions about your pregnancy please reach out to us @ 786-667-7177.

These are two screening tests that can help prevent cervical cancer or find it early:
* The Pap test (or Pap smear) looks for precancerous cells on the cervix.
* The HPV test looks for the virus (human papillomavirus) that can cause these cell changes.

⭐️ Every 3-5 years (if normal).
⭐️ Screens for cervical cancer.
⭐️ Vast majority is from HPV.
⭐️ HPV is s*xually transmitted.
⭐️ HPV commonly appears in the 20’s.
⭐️ You should start getting tested at age 21.
⭐️ There is a vaccine for HPV.
⭐️ Always go to GYN annually.

Regardless if you are due for a PAP and HPV test, a pelvic and gynecologic exam is recommended yearly. At Miami Women’s Health Associates, we provide comprehensive gynecologic & gyn surgical care for women. Schedule your annual appointment today at 786-667-7177 or visit our website www.miamiwomensobgyn.com (found on our profile)

Starting a family or growing one can be the most exciting or stressful time of your life. In general, healthy couples have a 25 percent to 30 percent chance of getting pregnant during each monthly cycle, assuming you’re having s*x regularly and without contraception. (“Regularly” is considered two to three times a week.) Over the course of a year, approximately 85 percent of couples who are actively trying to get pregnant will conceive.

However, keep in mind that both the woman’s and the man’s age, overall health, reproductive health and how often you have s*x all factor in to how long it will take you to get pregnant.
Healthy couples in their 20’s have around a 1 in 4 chance of conceiving during any monthly cycle, while the chances for those in their early 30’s are around 1 in 5. Fertility begins to decline quickly starting in your mid-30’s and the odds drop to around 1 in 10 by age 40.

Here are some ways to boost your chances of conceiving:
⭐️ Maintain a healthy weight
⭐️ Avoid smoking
⭐️ Eat right
⭐️ Take a prenatal vitamin
⭐️ Make time for stress relief
⭐️ S*x every other day
⭐️ Cycle tracking to time ovulation
If you’re under 35 and haven’t conceived after a year of actively trying, or if you’re over 35 and haven’t conceived within six months you may need to see an OB/GYN for further evaluation of you and your partner. We are here to help you every step of the way. Schedule your appointment today at 786-667-7177.

Birth-control can prevent pregnancy, regulate your period, help with menstrual cramps, help acne disappear, relieve symptoms of PMS and can help reduce risk of certain cancers and cysts.
Have you heard of IUDs? An IUD is a more modern form of birth control. It is a small, T-shaped device that is placed in your uterus by your provider. Once it is in, you cannot feel it and it will be effective for 3-10 years depending on which one you have. With an IUD you don’t have to keep up with all the pills. You simply have a procedure with your doctor and you’re set for a while. Whichever form of Birth-control you choose can help relieve all these symptoms but it’s not for everyone. Contact us to discuss which option is best for you.

March is National Endometriosis Awareness Month 💛
What is endometriosis? Endometriosis is a condition in which cells similar to those inside the lining of the uterus grow outside of the uterus, which can be associated with pelvic pain, painful periods, pain during in*******se, pain with bowel movements, cyclic changes in bowel habits and/or infertility. Endometriosis related cysts on the ovaries, called endometriomas, can be seen on ultrasound but smaller spots can only be detected through laparoscopic surgery. Surgical removal of endometriosis improves pain as well as fertility. However, endometriosis commonly grows near the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, kidney tubes, re**um, appendix or small bowel. Therefore, it requires a high degree of technical skill to be able to remove endometriosis completely without damaging those structure. At Miami Women’s Health Associates, our physicians Dr. Duarte and Dr. Gari, are highly trained in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. Don’t let this debilitating condition create roadblocks and disruptions in your life. Schedule an appointment today at 786-667-7177 if you have any questions or concerns about endometriosis.
