The Davis Goldman team recently celebrated the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers-MDFAWL’s new leadership appointments at the 44th Annual Installation and Awards Reception in Downtown Miami.

Davis Goldman congratulates all who have been appointed to the 2024-2025 MDFAWL Leadership Team and thanks the 2023-2024 MDFAWL Leadership Team for all of their hard work.

Earlier this month, Davis Goldman Co-Managing Partner Aaron Davis attended an American Bar Association Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Leadership Academy event.

The TIPS Leadership Academy serves the public by providing participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a vision to lead the legal profession and to improve leadership service in the community as a whole.

In an interview with Financial Times Agenda’s Nick Muscavage, Davis Goldman Co-Managing Partner Jason Goldman spoke about the FTC's new rule banning noncompete agreements.

The rule requires notifying millions of workers that non-competes are now unenforceable. While its fate is uncertain due to legal challenges, businesses must oversee efforts to identify impacted workers and ensure proper notifications are ready to issue.

Jason advised that businesses should “have a solution prepared by counsel implementing a plan to actually comply but not necessarily executing the plan until maybe 30 or 60 days pass, as we don't know what will be enjoined or what will shake out in the courts in that period.”

Davis Goldman Partner Kimberly Cook will be one of the Speakers presenting at The American College of Trial Lawyers’ Miami Boot Camp on May 29.

Co-sponsored by the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers-MDFAWL (MDFAWL), the program will feature the full trial of Alphonse "Al" Capone for the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. The program will take participants through the "anatomy of a trial" from opening to closing and will include lectures, demonstrators, and panel discussions critiquing the demonstrations.

Davis Goldman Partner Kimberly Cook was recently invited by Florida International University Associate Professor Ana Viamonte Ros, MD to take part in a presentation alongside Andrew Yaffa on potential pitfalls of medical malpractice for graduating medical students.

Kimberly, who now represents both plaintiffs and defendants in medical negligence cases, provided the defense perspective due to her extensive experience defending physicians and hospitals.

Davis Goldman Associate Lee Paris recently authored a column for the Daily Business Review where he discusses key considerations that family law practitioners should be aware of when their client is a partner in a business partnership.

“Having practiced family law for the first part of my career, I am intimately familiar with the realities of high-asset and hotly contested divorce cases. Your client is in financial crisis with their generational wealth at stake, and child custody issues are playing out in real time with no clear answers on the horizon,” Lee writes. “While pragmatism as a lawyer is rewarded in real-time, there are some key items that trail the divorce case and that family law practitioners should be aware of when your client is a partner in a business partnership.”

Kimberly had the pleasure of running a trial practice class at Southwest High School in preparation for the competition and is looking forward to mentoring the next generation of legal talent again next year.

In an interview with the Miami Herald’s Rebecca San Juan, Davis Goldman Co-Managing Partner Jason Goldman explores how WeWork’s recent bankruptcy filing will affect the company.

The Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection filing allows WeWork to select which locations across the country to close. Chapter 11 essentially helps an organization restructure, Jason said. He continued, Chapter 11 for WeWork simply means “they’ll get rid of some of their debt and liabilities, including some leases that are not profitable leases.”
