I have a logo to conceptualize, 2 photoshoots to edit and flyers to design, an interview to go on not to mention teach summer camp and decide if I’m going out of town for a week. 😑

Same goes for design. There’s a specific order in which things need to be displayed.

All these are used to create a graphic. They are also what can make or break the message.
What you’re presenting and how YOU are presenting it should line up with how WE are required to design its presentation.
Don’t miss your target audience with a design that won’t capture them.

Education.
ONE part of the equation is education.
Some are self-taught while others have earned degrees in the field. Either way education is involved.
In my case, I began my graphic design study in high school. My junior year in high school I was introduced to this world and it completely molded my future. I’ll leave my shoutouts for another post 😉. After high school I knew I wanted to pursue a degree in design so I did. From there I attempted grad school for design. Flunked out 🤷🏽‍♀️ with a C 🙄.
Anyway, college gave me the necessary knowledge I needed for a career in design. Learning, understanding and applying design principles along with basic art principles is the main factor. BUT, in addition to this I learned the necessary software to even apply those principles. This is what people forget about. Flyers are designed in specific software, magazines in specific software, logos, brochures, tshirts, packaging, book covers, etc. They all have specific software that needs to be used and sometimes one design requires multiple software programs to produce the final product. A designer should have a working knowledge of these. I say working because the software is updated with new process periodically and it’s our job to stay on top of it.
So, there you have it. Education is key in this field and any other. If we don’t have the knowledge how can we serve you? The extent of the knowledge and application of the knowledge is something you must pay for. 😏

We went through several rounds and ultimately concluded on a simplistic combined with a very specific . I made slight modifications to the letters of the to gel the design more.
