When the cake has sentimental meaning behind it: the mom wanted to surprise her daughter with this cake for her bridal party. The doggie will be the ring bearer at the wedding and since it means so much to the couple, she thought it’d be special for the couple’s best friend to make an appearance on the cake, too. I couldn’t agree more! 🥹

Hello there! Our IG family is growing and we have so many new members around here that I thought it’d be nice to introduce myself to those new faces!

- My name is Mari (not MarY) and I am co-owner of Casa Gioia (hence why you see me so much around here 😜)
- We are a family owned, women operated business. My mom, my aunt and myself. 🤸🏼‍♀️
- Gioia translates to “joy” in Italian so, Casa Gioia means “house of joy”. 😉
- No, I am not Italian but I lived and worked there and they called me “gioia” which is where the name came from. 😏
- I was born and raised in Dominican Republic, and so, so proud (and so, so, so loud)! 🇩🇴
- I love making cakes and I love blasting music while doing so. If you pay close attention, you’ll always see me jamming to the tunes in the videos 💃🏼
- And last BUT certainly NOT least: one of my favorite things in the world is photography. I love taking photos, and editing, and creating reels. And seeing things through a lens. I find it extremely therapeutic. 🙆🏼‍♀️

Our first microwedding ❤️

❤️ The cake shown here is a “dummy cake” because the bride wanted the cake to look flawless throughout the entire night.

❤️ There was a little hidden piece in the bottom tier, for them to slice for the traditional cake cutting picture (traditional Dominican cake with pineapple)

❤️ The couple wanted to make their beloved dog a part of their special day, so we found a place for him. Thank you for your impeccable work!

❤️ To serve the guests, we made a small Dominican sheet cake filled with guava & pineapple and frosted with suspiro.

Did you know we LOVE to make weddings? And dummy cakes? And sheet cakes? 🤣🤣

B O H O gender reveal cake 👶🏻 1,2 or 3?

🩷💙 All three designs are so different, and they were all created at different stages of my continued design evolution.

🩷💙 For the second and third design, the client was very specific about the aesthetics of the cake and gave me specific references.

🩷💙 For the first cake, the client sent out a mood board, invitation, cake backdrop, design, etc and gave me full permission to come up with a completely custom design!

🩷💙 I love all three designs very much! Which one is YOUR fave? 1,2 or 3?

I am *this*🤏🏻 close to turning into a cake flower 🤣🤣 but in all honesty, this type of cake is so versatile. Perfect for baby showers, baptisms, bridal showers, and birthday parties. This one for example, is for a 5 year old. Have a great weekend, everyone!
