Another nice surround
Just finished a very nice shower for a client today
This is a new IPE or commonly known as ironwood deck. We installed the decking and the new aluminum rails.
Makes a really nice deck that has minimum maintenance and lasts a very long time
Tile job botched by previous contractor🧐😡
In the process of adding on a patio cover I discovered a surprise.
This is a photo of a manufactured home and some of the garbage that is built. You are looking at a picture from the outside of a home up through the soffits at the wall top plate and the bottom of the trusses.
What is that white line you say? Well that is 1/2 inch drywall on the wall top plate and sandwiched between the bottom of the trusses and the wall top plate.
The more I dig in this type of home the more that I discover. Not exactly kosher at all.
Same home has OSB under the vinyl siding with no water moisture barrier / Tyvek.
Looking even further at wall insulation the paper that is supposed to be stapled to the face of the studs is folded back into stud cavity , rendering the insulation worthless. This is done so they can glue on the drywall.
Needless to say you would think that a home built in a controlled environment would be done very well and the quality control would be excellent.
NOT THE CASE at all garbage and shameful.
A little carpentry and a little paint can make an eye sore look new again
This is a small bathroom we just completed it has a little beach/ country charm, with new tile on the floor and the tub surround and nice white bead board
It always so amazing at what a little paint will do for the looks of any exterior, I guess that is why I love this business so much.
Pictured here is a toilet fl**ge that was in a basement. The tape measure is showing the distance from the wall that the toilet fl**ge was set. When talking toilets, the toilet rough-in is the distance from the wall behind the toilet to the center of the outlet pipe where the waste leaves the toilet. The most common distance is 12 inches, so most toilets have a “12 inch rough-in". Well, as you can see, this outlet pipe is measuring at 10 inches. This proposes a problem when you install your 12 inch toilet, you would find that it will not fit and the toilet tank will hit the wall.
What has happened here is poor planning. The basement walls are cinderblock, constructed back in the 50's with no intent of the walls being finished with drywall, etc.
Well now-a-days we like our basements finished. When the drywall was added, 4 inches was added to the existing wall, which in turn made the distance to the center of the outlet pipe change.
To correct it there are a couple of ways to handle it. First you can cut the floor, dig up around the pipe, cut the pipe, and move the outlet pipe. Sometimes this works and sometimes not, the configuration of the piping will determine yay or nay. Also, unless you built your home and know exactly where your pipes are (most of us do not) then cutting the cement, moving the pipe, back filling with sand and cement, and the cost of a licensed plumber is a major expense!
There is another cost effective solution to this problem, but it is also not a well known fix.
It is called a ten-inch toilet, which means that the toilet is designed with a "10 inch rough-in" measurement that will accommodate the shorter distance to the wall and still fit correctly. This makes excavation unnecessary and will save you some major $$$!
We hope you enjoyed this tip. Please keep us in mind for all your remodeling needs. 🚽🚽🚽
This morning I thought we would share a before and after pictures of an exterior paint job we completed on a cedar sided home. Paint makes a really big difference, usually the protection of the substrate and curb appeal seems to be the biggest reasons clients have us take on a project like this
Before and after of a very clean bathroom install.
Are you tired of that old cracked splintered deck, this is a composite deck we installed for a client who got tired of staining. Something to be considered when you build a deck or are in need of refinishing your old deck. The initial cost is slightly higher but when you consider the cost of future staining and pressure washing it pays for itself
This is a glass and stone backsplash we installed, really added to the look of kitchen
This is a slate stone floor we sealed for a client as you can see it made a huge difference.
Temperature/pressure-relief or TPR valves are safety devices installed on water heating appliances, such as boilers and domestic water supply heaters. TPRs are designed to automatically release water in the event that pressure or temperature in the water tank exceeds safe levels.
If yours looks like the picture above please give us a call it is installed incorrectly and is a hazard to your home and family.
It was brought to my attention that I was not clear on exactly what I was talking about in this post. If you look at the picture you will see the temperature relief valve it has the orange tag around it. The small copper pipe that comes off of that valve is sized incorrectly. It needs to be at least 3/4" or larger to be able to handle the hot water that rushes out of it if the hot water heater should overheat.
This wood burning stove installation with Slate stone base and the river rock walls really make for a warm winter evening with family.
