2. Q. How long does the treatment take?

A. The first step is to apply the topical anesthetic numbing cream to minimize pain and discomfort during the procedure. The anesthetic takes effect 20-30 minutes after the application. The procedure itself takes approximately 20-30 minutes per area depending on size. If you have multiple areas done it will take longer. Plan for a minimum of 60 minutes with us, but it can be as long as 90 minutes.

3. Q. How do I prepare for my procedure?

A. It is advisable that you do not use products containing AHA’s, glycolic, or retin A for one week prior to the procedure. Also, do not apply any cosmetic products on the treated area the day of the procedure, especially those containing alcohol. Be sure to let your technician know of any recent surgeries or aesthetic procedures.

4. Q. Is the procedure painful?

A. Fibroblast Skin Tightening is a NON-invasive procedure with minimal pain and discomfort. The area will be treated with a numbing cream prior to the procedure and the technician will do their very best to keep you comfortable. During the procedure, some clients may feel discomfort, but rarely does anyone report they have experienced pain. Every area of the body has a different pain threshold so some areas will be more uncomfortable than others. We do our best to keep you comfortable during the procedure. After the procedure the treated area may be slightly red and some patients experience swelling, especially if the eye area has been treated. At the site of each Fibroblast spot a small crust will form. These should not be touched and must be left alone to fall off naturally, which typically takes 4-5 days.

Most people say the procedure and the healing feels similar to a chemical peel or microneedling.

6. Q. What is the most common area for treatment?

A. The most commonly treated areas are around the eyes, the jowls, and the neck. However, the procedure can be performed on any area of loose/saggy skin that is bothersome to you.

7. Q. Is Fibroblast Skin Tightening treatment safe?

A. The treatment is very safe, as it is non-surgical and has a negligible amount of possible side effects and serious complications. The procedure is based on the natural stimulation of the skin regeneration process and takes a very short time to complete. The most important part of the procedure is the after-care. If correct aftercare is not followed or is neglected, the treated area may not heal properly.

8. Q. Are there any possible side effects?

A. The Fibroblast Skin Tightening treatment is an exceptionally safe procedure with virtually no side effects or they occur very rarely. Possible side effects are inflammation, scarring or minor change in skin pigmentation, which is very rare. It is highly important for each client to follow the instructions for aftercare closely. Crusts which occur after the treatment are part of the treatment and will fall off after 4-5 days. Minor swelling after treating the area around the eyes is normal and will disappear after 3-5 days, depending on the clients sensitivity.

9. Q. What is the after care protocol?

A. Immediately after the procedure the technician will clean the treatment area and apply a healing ointment. You will go home with small containers of each of the products to apply to the area over the next few days. Follow the instructions provided by the technician with the products and you should have great results. Additionally, you should keep the area clean and dry for 4-5 days and avoid saunas, pools, solariums, or any kind of exposure to activities which present risk of infection of the treated area as it heals. Minimal exercise should be performed with no sweating of the treatment area. Protect the area from direct sun exposure until the skin is fully regenerated (2-3 weeks), and use sunscreen for the next 3-4 months as the regenerated skin will be more susceptible to burning. Do not apply any other products to the skin until healed, especially those containing alcohol or fragrances.

10. Q. Can I apply makeup on the treatment area?

A. For best results it is best to not apply any makeup to the treatment area until the crust have naturally fallen off. If you absolutely must use makeup, you may use a light mineral powder after day 3, but keep in mind, you will get better results if you do not use any makeup. Continue to keep the areas clean and use the after care ointment when makeup is not being used. Cleanliness of the skin is of the utmost importance for proper healing.

11. Q. How long until I notice the results?

A. You should see the immediate tightening of the skin as soon as the area is treated. You may experience swelling and inflammation the first few days while the body is repairing the damage. The skin will go through three phases of healing. The third phase will begin around 3-4 weeks and is the healing phase where the collagen and connective tissue are regenerating. This is when you will notice the full results of the treatment.

12. Q. How many treatments will I need?

A. The number of treatments depends on the condition of the clients skin. Most clients are satisfied with only 1 session as they have experienced significant wrinkle reduction and skin tightening. Due to the simplicity of the procedure and the affordable price, many clients opt for multiple sessions of multiple areas. It will be up to you how many sessions you need and whether you want wrinkle reduction or wrinkle erasure.

13. Q. How long does the effects of the treatment last?

A. The results of the Fibroblast Skin Tightening are permanent and may be visible for many years (average is 2-4). However, we should point out that the aging process is continuous and thus the skin ages every day after the procedure. The Fibroblast does not stop the aging of the skin. Some of the really deep wrinkles may appear more rapidly than the others because of strong muscle involvement. For those areas, a light session of Botox may extend the results of the Fibroblast treatment.
