INTRODUCING YOUR 2024 COUNSELORS OF THE YEAR👏👏👏

“Each summer we have the staff vote for Counselor of the Year. Prestigious recognition at SPARK because we’ve been fortunate enough to have so many who really care about our campers and their experience at SPARK.

This year, as voted on primarily by their peers, so many received votes, yet three stood out and if you consider how far they came to be with us, it is truly amazing. All three were international staff.

Emily Barnes, who returned in 2024 to work with our PreK/K group, once again distinguished herself as one of our most reliable staff members. From the beginning, Emily showed how relatable she was and how much she cares for her campers. They followed her everywhere knowing they could rely on her to always do what’s best for them.

Dylan Reis, who in 2023, truly stepped out of his comfort zone, not only to travel from the UK to join us, but to come in costume so often to camp that we all looked forward to seeing what was next. This summer, often donned with a cape, Dylan climbed to even loftier heights by dressing as Spiderman and surveyed camp from the roof of cabana three. Always willing to go all out for SPARK, Dylan was incredible.

Last but, never least, a new sun appeared on the horizon in the person of Emily Munro. What Emily may lack in verticality, she more than makes up for in spirit and this was clearly evident when in training, her SPARK burned brightest winning a staff challenge and politely rubbing it in everyone’s face. It was a tough room and she owned it. Emily never looked back. She acclimated quickly, exhibited tremendous judgement, and her girls benefitted from her example everyday.

In STEAM, our campers are exploring the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! They have been doing an amazing job expressing their creativity in various activities such as building a bridge with toothpicks and marshmallows, weaving and paper sculpting, making rollercoasters, playing with Legos, and much more!
