I had the BEST morning dashing out of the house at 6:30 in the morning to catch morning golden hour and a sunrise with this beautiful mama. Then we took a quick drive over to the Sandhills. This was my first time at the Sandhills and wow was I surprised at how pretty they are. Next on my list is Making the drive to NM white sands.

Okay, I think I’m ready to be back on social media. For those who don’t already know before I had left for New York to go pick up Dakota, My aunt Michelle lost her fight to a very vicious cancer. Ever since the day I found out from my husband she had passed, it has been so hard to open up this app. I had been keeping up with how she was doing for while and looked forward to seeing her presence on FB everyday praying she would get a miracle and kick cancers butt.. Whether it be her posts filling my feed or liking and commenting on all of my posts, I sort of depended on it.

When my grandfather passed, fb was just becoming a thing. Even though he wasn’t very “tech savvy” per-se, he LOVED technology, and he posted frequently. He had a blackberry and called it a blueberry. 😂

…And then one day the posts stopped.

I struggled probably the hardest with him leaving this earth so suddenly. I have never opened up about it, and to be honest I don’t think I have ever been able to come to terms with the fact I can’t have just one more orange 🍊 with him on the couch in the afternoon. No more pan dulce as a late night snack, no more Klondike bars, no more hey grandpa how do you say this in Spanish. No more custard after a bike ride. I just sort of buried the pain.

Some how, my aunt passing and not being able to see her on here stung so deeply, and tethered all the pain I felt and not dealt with— from losing my grandfather— along with the sheer pain of knowing she lost her fight.

I have lived all over the place (perks of the military life), FB was and has always been a comfort blanket to me to keep up with my family and friends. The day she passed that “comfort blanket” didn’t feel comforting anymore.

This only being part of the reason I took time away, I just wanted you all to know it wasn’t my intention to make anyone feel ignored. I see now that I have a LOT of missed messages. I will definitely respond them on here and on Tall City Photography.

I know there’s some people on here that have come to know me because of my business or are trying to reach me on here because I haven’t responded on my business page to inquiries etc. For that I am truly sorry and incredibly thankful for your patience.

I have had time to heal, time to think about and sort out all of my emotions. Like my grandma always says, “one day at a time.” She couldn’t be more right.
