We have a picking of sweet corn ready for you. Come by and get what you need for your holiday cook outs. Lots of tomatoes and potatoes too!

08/22/2024

Tomatoes have been restocked, we are picking enough now that we should steadily have them available at the farm until frost/freeze. We should have corn available in the next week or so, I know some have been asking.

08/17/2024

We’re finally getting tomatoes! The large ones are just starting and might not be out everyday for a week or so but if you’ve been waiting for delicious BLT season it has started. Melons/watermelons did not set well this year and we likely won’t have large quantities, but we will update when/if they are available at the farm.

07/20/2024

Tyler is down at the Farmer’s Market for the first time this year. Stop out for some delicious pickles, zucchini, and summer squash. All individual items are also available at the farm stand everyday. Text Tyler with specific questions. 989-835-4821

Zucchini, Summer squash, and pickles have started and are available at the farm stand. Cucumbers should be starting soon, we are a few weeks out yet for tomatoes and melons though.

06/27/2024

Thank you everyone who came out and picked Strawberries this year. We are sad to see the season come to an end but are excited for everything that comes next. We should have pickles, cucumbers, zucchini, and summer squash starting in the next couple of weeks followed by tomatoes, muskmellon, and water melon later this summer. We will post updates as new items become available at the farm stand.

Someone left behind a white tumbler. We placed it out front of the white shed by the green door so it’s available for you to pick up anytime.

After evaluating the fields we have decided we will be opening Tuesday, June 25 beginning at 4pm for our last day of U-pick for the season. The rain has plumped up some of the berries so there are still some nice ones out there. They are not as plentiful as a week ago but there is still enough out there for some end of the season shortcakes, pies, or even to freeze for smoothies throughout the rest of the year.

A couple reminders:
1. Please bring Cash, we are unable to accept credit cards.
2. U-pick pricing is still $3/lb
3. We do have boxes available for you to pick into or you can bring your own containers to pick into. If you pick close to 10lbs or more our boxes are free.
4. No smoking on the property or in the fields.
5. We unfortunately do not have any play areas or climbing structures for children, please do not climb on any equipment you pass on the way to and from the fields.

06/23/2024

Still lots of berries out there today. It is wet though so wear boots or shoes you don’t mind getting wet. We will be open a few more hours today. This might be our last picking we will evaluate the fields Monday to see if we can open Tuesday.

Still a lot of nice berries out there, but our season is coming to an end. Our next picking is going to be Sunday, June 23rd beginning at 730am until picked out. The strawberries are getting smaller than they were at the beginning of the season but with this heat they are very sweet. This is always my favorite time to make jam because it has so much of that Michigan strawberry flavor.
Our next U-pick will be Wednesday, June 19th from 6-9pm. The last few pickings have been a lot slower if you prefer a more peaceful picking experience.

A couple reminders:
1. Please bring Cash, we are unable to accept credit cards.
2. U-pick pricing is still $3/lb
3. We do have boxes available for you to pick into or you can bring your own containers to pick into. If you pick close to 10lbs or more our boxes are free.

06/15/2024

Lots of strawberries out there today, individuals aren’t going far for their fill.

06/13/2024

Strawberries have peaked, lots of ripe berries in just a short distance. We seem to have lower crowds tonight and will allow people into the fields until 7pm and then you can pick past that time. The breeze is definitely helping with the heat. If you’re looking for strawberries to make jam or pies for Father’s Day now is your time.

At this time the field is full of pickers. If you don’t mind waiting we can work in more pickers as others leave but it is going to be a short day, due to the cooler weather not as many berries have ripened as with warmer days.

We are planning to open Friday, June 7th at 4pm for our first U-Pick of the season. Strawberries are just getting started, there will be several more days of picking to come. Typically our U-pick season lasts about 2 weeks and goes until July 4. I do not anticipate this season going into July but we are hoping for a longer season this year; although, it is all weather dependent.

A couple reminders:

2. U-pick pricing is still $3/lb
Prepicked pricing is $6.50/quart, I will post before opening if we will have any prepicked available.

Strawberries are getting closer and closer each day. As of right now we’re anticipating opening for U-pick strawberry sometime this coming weekend. We will post another update once we determine a more definitive day as we monitor how ripening is progressing.

Photos from Wirbel Farms's post 05/27/2024

It was finally dry enough to work in the fields this week/weekend. Shout out to the weekend crew for getting nearly 1500 plants in the ground and hot capped. We’re several weeks behind so a lot will start later in the summer than typical but not strawberries. Our youngest crew member found the first strawberries of the year. We are still approximately 2 weeks out from the start of u-pick. Watch for updates as we get closer. 😊 given the early season it will not last into July this year like previous years.

Photos from Wirbel Farms's post 05/19/2024

It’s starting to look exciting in the strawberry fields as we are seeing more and more blossoms. Typically it’s about a month from blossoms to ripe berries, but the weather plays a big part in that. Warmer days brings them on faster with less growth. We anticipate the season being earlier this year compared to last but we will continue to update as berries start to ripen.
On the positive for the strawberries, we’ve had consistent rainfall which is much different than last year; however that has put us several weeks behind on planting tomatoes and the rest of our crops as we haven’t been able to get into the fields with equipment.

09/09/2023

Tyler picked more tomatoes tonight than he has all year and plans to go dow to Midland Market in the morning. He will be bringing down:
Watermelons -Yellow, red and orange
Tomatoes - red and orange
Peaches
nectarines
apples
pears
cabbage

Sorry for the late notice, we weren’t expecting a large quantity of tomatoes, but are very thankful as we miss seeing all our Market customers this year.

Photos from Wirbel Farms's post 09/06/2023

We have another picking of peaches available, also have nectarines, donut peaches, apples, and finally watermelons are ripe. 😄 we should have peaches and apples available all week, Tyler typically refills in the morning and at 5pm on the days he is working elsewhere. Watermelons and Tomatoes will be available for weeks to come.

08/29/2023

We have now added Red Haven Peaches and Bartlett Pears. Stop out and get yours before they’re gone.
